Uncle Ho visited the Saqqara Pyramid in 1946.

In June 1946, at the invitation of the Government of the French Republic, Uncle Ho made his first diplomatic trip as President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, meeting with French politicians and the Vietnamese community to seek independence and lasting unity for Vietnam. On the way to France, he visited the Egyptian capital Cairo. Here, he visited the Egyptian Archaeological Institute - now the world-famous National Museum - and visited the Saqqara Pyramid - which marked the beginning of the glorious pyramid-building period in Egypt.

Because he valued Egypt as a country with influence and position in North Africa, and with his affection for the country and people of Egypt, President Ho Chi Minh soon established the Vietnam Economic Representative Office in Egypt in 1958; established diplomatic relations in 1963; and together with President Abdel Nasser laid the foundation for the friendly relations between the two countries and peoples of Vietnam and Egypt to develop well to this day.

Today, when mentioning President Ho Chi Minh, the Egyptian people always have admiration and great respect for him. Egyptian scholars and journalists recognize his great contributions to not only the Vietnamese people but also the people of the world in the national liberation movement, especially in the African region.

Many Egyptians were particularly impressed and moved by the simple and friendly image of the Vietnamese leader in front of the Saqqara Pyramid in 1946.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt organized a thematic activity to visit the Saqqara Pyramid Area, where Uncle Ho set foot 79 years ago.

According to Ambassador Nguyen Huy Dung, this thematic activity is like a "return to the source" trip of the Party Cell of the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt, expressing the sincere remembrance and deep gratitude of each cadre and party member towards President Ho Chi Minh - the genius leader, great revolutionary teacher, national liberation hero, world cultural celebrity.

Thereby, contributing to educating each cadre and party member to fully and deeply understand the content of the task of studying and working according to Uncle Ho, while at the same time creating an exciting atmosphere and trust of cadres and party members in the leadership of the Party and the path of the Vietnamese revolution.
