Thanh Hoa: Heavy rain causes landslides and flooding in many places

Although the storm did not make landfall, prolonged heavy rain caused landslides on dikes and many places were deeply flooded.

By around 2:00 p.m. on July 22, the forces had basically handled the landslide on the Cung River dike, through Hoang Chau commune ( Thanh Hoa province).

Due to prolonged heavy rain, the Cung River dike collapsed at two locations in the Dong Den 2 culvert area (Hoang Chau commune). As soon as the incident was discovered, the Hoang Chau commune government and relevant agencies mobilized more than 200 officers, soldiers and residents to quickly fix the problem. The forces used bamboo stakes and soil sacks to reinforce the dike body, preventing water from penetrating deep and causing the risk of the dike breaking.

Due to prolonged heavy rain, the sudden rise in water has isolated Dong Song area (Ba Thuoc commune), 11 households with 57 people living in this area.

Meanwhile, in Nguyet An commune, rising water also isolated 88 households with 385 people in Pheo, Re, Chuoi, and Dong villages. Currently, the forces have reached these households, provided them with necessities, and brought the elderly and children to safety.

In Hac Thanh ward, heavy rain also caused many streets such as Le Loi, Duong Dinh Nghe, Tran Phu, Ba Trieu... to be deeply flooded. In some areas, water has flooded into houses.
