In the morning, 38,154 candidates took the Literature exam for 120 minutes in 1,639 exam rooms, reaching a rate of 99.43% and in the afternoon of the same day, 37,921 candidates took the Math exam in 1,627 exam rooms, reaching a rate of 99.42% compared to the number of candidates registered to take the exam. On the first exam day, 439 candidates were absent.
Along with the high school graduation exam, this year there are 28,174 candidates registering for the social science subject combination exam for admission to universities and vocational schools.

According to the report of Thanh Hoa Departmentof Education and Training, the situation of preserving exam papers at exam locations is safe and in accordance with regulations.
On the first day of the 2024 high school graduation exam in Thanh Hoa province, security and order were ensured; exam invigilators performed their assigned tasks and positions, and at each exam location, there were medical staff on duty to meet the health care needs of candidates.
