Faced with this situation, the Ho Chi Minh City health sector has synchronously deployed plans to ensure medical care for people attending the Great Festival. Specifically, a permanent medical force including 2 fixed medical rooms, 2 field medical tents and 10 ambulances are on duty at the pagoda area. A team of doctors and nurses mobilized from many medical units, along with modern emergency equipment and anti-heatstroke cooling equipment supported by the Military Medical Department, are always ready to handle emergency situations.
The Ho Chi Minh City 115 Emergency Center is the main coordinating unit, responsible for traffic flow and dispatching of ambulances, including two-wheeled ambulances, while maintaining connections with relevant units to activate rapid response procedures. According to Dr. Nguyen Duy Long, Director of the 115 Emergency Center, there are a total of 10 ambulances deployed around Thanh Tam Pagoda, including 2 from the Center and 8 from other hospitals. In addition, 4 medical tents are deployed at key locations, fully equipped with oxygen, infusion fluids, essential drugs, vital signs monitors, endotracheal devices, etc. to meet the requirements of on-site intensive emergency care.
As of 4:00 p.m. on May 4, 2025, medical forces had promptly provided emergency care to 278 cases, of which 7 cases were transferred to the hospital for monitoring and intensive treatment. According to records, most of the cases with health problems were due to prolonged heat or underlying medical conditions. Every day, about 60 medical staff are on duty from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with more than 50 people during the day and over 30 people at night.

To enhance response capacity, the City Department of Health has assigned neighboring hospitals such as Binh Chanh, Trung Vuong, Binh Dan, Nguyen Trai, Orthopedic Trauma Hospital, District 11, Trieu An, Gia An 115, City International Hospital... to be ready to provide professional support and receive serious cases. In case the Thanh Tam Pagoda area is overloaded, the City Children's Hospital will act as the central coordinator.
Thanks to careful preparation, proactiveness and close coordination among forces, after two days of the 2025 Vesak Festival, although the number of people needing medical assistance was relatively high, no serious incidents were recorded.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health recommends that people attending the festival should prepare hats, sun umbrellas, drinking water, snacks and medication if they have chronic diseases; avoid jostling and pushing to prevent accidents and injuries. If there are signs of fatigue or dizziness, quickly find a cool place to rest and contact a volunteer or the nearest medical facility for timely support.
