On April 26, at the Youth Cultural House (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), the announcement and opening ceremony of the exhibition of 50 literary and artistic works, 50 works, clusters of works and 50 outstanding events and activities of Ho Chi Minh City took place.
This is an activity organized by the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
50 typical events and activities spread across many fields, including: Politics (14 events); National Defense - Security (2 events); Health (2 events); Economy (5 events); History - Culture (2 events); Transportation (3 events); Culture - Society (12 events); Environment (2 events); Science - Technology (4 events); Education (2 events); Foreign Affairs (1 event) and Sports (1 event).
Notable in the published list are "The Ho Chi Minh Campaign was completely victorious, Saigon and the whole country entered an era of peace, independence, unity, and progress towards Socialism" (1975); "The first session of the 6th National Assembly of the unified Vietnam passed a Resolution officially naming Saigon-Gia Dinh city as Ho Chi Minh City" (1976); "Establishment of Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone - the first Export Processing Zone of the whole country" (1991); "Establishment of Ho Chi Minh City National University" (1995); "Ho Chi Minh City opened the Stock Exchange Center" (2000); "Official operation of Metro Line No. 1 (Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien line)" (2024)...
At the same time, the exhibition of 50 literary and artistic works, 50 constructions, clusters of constructions and 50 outstanding events and activities of Ho Chi Minh City includes two contents. Specifically, in the front facade area extending to the Youth Theater, the exhibition displays image blocks, descriptive information about constructions, clusters of constructions with parameters and images associated with 50 typical construction works and clusters of constructions of the City.
Panels, documentaries, and images of 50 outstanding events and activities, and 50 typical literary and artistic works of the City are displayed at Stage 4A of the Youth Cultural House. The exhibition will run until April 30.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, said that 50 literary and artistic works, 50 works, clusters of works and 50 typical events and activities of the City were announced to honor and commend valuable works, contributing to the development of literature and art in the 50-year journey of building and developing the City; at the same time, marking significant contributions in the 50-year journey of formation and development of the city named after Uncle Ho.
These results are clear evidence of the City's attention and direction, the close coordination of departments, branches, sectors and organizations; together with the joint efforts of the whole society, and most importantly, the trust of all sectors and people.

On this occasion, at the Youth Cultural House, an exchange program with historical witnesses was also held. At the exchange, Hero of the Armed Forces Nguyen Van Tau (alias Tu Cang), although 98 years old, still clearly remembered the historic April days in Ho Chi Minh City 50 years ago.
It is a touching story about the sacrifice of 52 soldiers protecting Rach Chiec bridge a few days before the country's reunification; the memory of the historic April 30th, when President Duong Van Minh spoke to the Americans, before surrendering to the liberation army.

Mr. Pham Chanh Truc, former Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, former Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, and Head of the City Youth Union's Traditional Club, told about the days after liberation. Young people poured into the streets to do volunteer work such as directing traffic, cleaning up, removing ruins, etc. He said that this was the first sign of the volunteer movement, the precursor to the youth volunteer force. He also told about the journey of establishing Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone, the first export processing zone in the country, marking a turning point in economic cooperation with the international community./.
