Visitors experience the smart interactive station when visiting Kien Trung Palace ( Hue Imperial City). |
(PLVN) - Hue is applying the latest technology to the work of preserving and promoting heritage values in tourism development, notably building a pilot network of smart interactive stations - TapQuest connected together to form a cultural and heritage map, bringing unique experiences to visitors.
The Hue Monuments Conservation Center has just deployed the TapQuest smart interactive station technology in the Hue Imperial City area ahead of the Thai Hoa Palace's official opening to visitors after 3 years of restoration. This new technology has received a strong response from domestic and foreign tourists, with more than 2,500 interactions after only 2 weeks of deployment.
Smart interactive stations are physical panels embedded with near-field communication (NFC) chips that tourists can tap their phones to connect to the historical and cultural stories of each location with a variety of rich forms of expression including images, videos , 3D models, text, and guides using artificial intelligence.

At each location, visitors are also provided with a travel itinerary and guided to the next attraction. Take check-in photos and upload their own images to the "golden board" of each location. This is an extremely popular function, in which visitors can "carve their names on the digital wall" of each location without spoiling the beauty of the scenic spots and also helping each location promote tourism, creating a positive impact on the locality. In addition, visitors can also participate in interesting tasks to receive attractive rewards...
Each interactive smart station acts as a “digital tour guide” that can provide a variety of amenities and support to visitors. These stations are linked together in a seamless experience, forming a comprehensive cultural and heritage experience map that is highly customizable and has unlimited development potential.
Smart interactive stations installed at tourist attractions in Hue Imperial City |
Previously, in September 2024, the smart interactive station technology was piloted at Hai Van Quan after the place reopened to visitors after the restoration process. Although it was only a pilot project that had not been widely communicated, this technology has demonstrated its great potential right at Hai Van Quan. After just over 2 months of installation, these stations attracted more than 5,000 interactions and received hundreds of check-in images with countless excited emotions from thousands of visitors.
In the coming time, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center will expand the deployment of smart interactive station technology to more relic areas, thereby creating an overall map linking all areas, helping visitors have a seamless experience throughout and increasing the depth of interaction with many functions added later.
This new technology has received strong response from both domestic and foreign tourists. |
With this new technology, Hue's cultural tourism model has the potential to profoundly change the travel habits of both domestic and foreign tourists, touching deeper into stories, experiencing more tourist destinations. At the same time, promoting stronger links with local services, thereby creating a positive picture for the overall picture of cultural tourism and can become a typical reference model for exploiting cultural tourism in other provinces and cities.
Tap Quest technology will continue to be jointly developed by the Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the solution provider Phygital Labs specifically for Hue culture and heritage, with the expectation of deploying the complete model at all cultural and heritage sites in the centrally-run city of Hue before the event of hosting the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival in March 2025.
