Nghinh Phong Tower: From a tourism and architectural icon to a prestigious sports tournament

Nghinh Phong Tower Square (Tuy Hoa City) immediately after its inauguration won two major international awards for Asian architecture and landscape; the world's leading city tourism project in 2023. The idea of ​​designing and constructing the Nghinh Phong Tower Square was implemented in April 2019 by HUNI architectes Vietnam Company. It is a combination of the image of the special national monument Ganh Da Dia with the legend of Lac Long Quan - Au Co. The project was constructed for nearly 2 years by a consortium of domestic construction companies and completed on November 30, 2021.

The project consists of four main parts:

The square yard has a total area of ​​7,190m2, is semicircular, and paved with granite. The tower yard is also a large outdoor stage for organizing large, crowded events.

The center is the Nghinh Phong tower. The steps are arranged alternately from 7 to 9 steps. The tower body consists of 2 towers (twin towers) 35m and 30m high. Each tower has 50 stone pillars of similar size, arranged next to each other from low to high towards the inside.

The Nghinh Phong wind gap is 2m wide and 15m long. On the two walls between the two towers are reliefs about the Lac - Hong legend, the process of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people.

Below the Nghinh Phong Tower square, adjacent to the sandy beach, is a space for entertainment and cuisine .

Nghinh Phong Tower Square is designed in harmony with the surrounding landscape, ecological environment, and open sea space.

On November 17, 2023, in Busan (Korea), the Organizing Committee of the 2023 Asian Urban Landscape Awards awarded the Yingfeng Tower Square, the only project in Southeast Asia to win the award. On December 1, 2023, in Dubai, the World Travel Awards presented the World 's Leading City Monuments 2023 trophy and award to the Yingfeng Tower.

The main material used for the project is natural granite available locally. In particular, Nghinh Phong tower has honored the traditional cultural and historical values. The design simulates the image of the special national scenic relic Ganh Da Dia and the legend of Au Co - Lac Long Quan, giving birth to a hundred eggs, hatching a hundred children, 50 children followed their father to the sea, 50 children followed their mother to the mountains to reclaim land, expanding the country as it is today. The two towers symbolize the Dragon father - Fairy mother, the harmony of yin and yang, a symbol of solidarity of the Vietnamese ethnic groups.

At night, Nghinh Phong Tower is illuminated by a colored lighting system using Bobine Tesia technology, 3D mapping and high-intensity laser, creating a multi-colored light dance.

The name Nghinh Phong (wind-catching) represents the mindset of Phu Yen people in the easternmost land of the country, wishing for sustainable development in accordance with nature, openly receiving the energy sources from the sea. If Mui Dien   As the first place to welcome the sunlight on the mainland of Vietnam, Nghinh Phong tower is the place to welcome the east wind and prosperity from the ocean.
