Discontinue old products
According to information from many people, recently at markets and points of sale, there are staff providing products to collect ground coffee products, then provide new products of the same brand but at a higher price than the old products. Ms. Lam Ngoc Huong, owner of HH store (Hung Vuong street, Tuy Hoa city) said: My store sells ground coffee of Huong Huong and Huy Tung. About a month ago, staff came to collect all the old products sold at the store and a few days later delivered other products. The new products are more expensive than the old products, some of which have changed labels and packaging. However, according to feedback from customers who have bought and used them, the new coffee products have a different color than the old products, higher coffee content, and are less concentrated than the old products.
Mr. Duy, owner of DH grocery store (Ward 2, Tuy Hoa City) shared: On the day the staff came to collect the product, the store still had 3 bags of Huy Tung ground coffee. I asked about the reason for the recall, they said it was to change the product packaging.
At Tuy Hoa market, stall owners who supply ground coffee also shared about the acceptance of new coffee products from production facilities. According to stall owner Trieu Ly (Tuy Hoa market), this stall used to sell ground coffee of Huy Tung and Huong Huong at 72,000-75,000 VND/kg, but now only sells new products at 125,000 VND/kg. Some of the new products still keep the old model, with some changes in packaging details, but some have completely changed to a new model. This stall owner also said that the new products are more expensive than the old products and the quality is also considered better.
Having been familiar with Phu Yen coffee for a long time, Mr. Nguyen Van Manh (Ward 4, Tuy Hoa City) said: The ground coffee produced by Phu Yen establishments in the past had its own characteristics, with a fragrant aroma, smoothness, and concentration. When using the new product, I found that the water and color seemed lighter but it still tasted good.
Invest in new products to maintain the brand
Huy Tung Coffee, one of the major coffee brands, has been present in the market for many years, bringing to the market many quality products, OCOP products, typical rural industrial products at the provincial level... This brand has also affirmed its name, receiving positive reviews from consumers. Ms. Nguyen Thi Dai Trang, Director of Huy Tung Coffee Company Limited (Tuy Hoa City) said: We constantly research and invest in modern machinery and technology for each stage of coffee production. We make this investment every year, combined with updating market information to improve product quality, affirming the reputation of Huy Tung coffee brand.
Ms. Trang also said: Recently, the company has invested in new Taiwanese roasting and grinding machines and technology, and invested in coffee raw material areas in the province. In the early stages of applying the new technology, the coffee products have changed compared to the old products. To ensure consistency, we collect all old products (about 400-500kg of finished coffee powder) and provide new products to the market that suit the needs and tastes of consumers. Currently, Huy Tung's new products have a price difference of about 30-40% compared to the old price; higher quality, prioritizing traditional taste, ensuring aroma, fat and meeting the needs of each customer segment.
According to a representative of another coffee production facility in the area, the facility always receives feedback from customers; requires sales staff to carefully perform customer care, regularly monitor and grasp the needs of customers, especially partners, distributors and retailers. These employees are responsible for recalling old products, products that are close to expiration, or have technical packaging errors... when requested by customers. The recent product recall was due to high raw coffee prices, combined with market demand and changing consumer tastes, so the facility stopped supplying old products, while improving quality and improving new product packaging designs with the hope of enhancing the value and brand of Phu Yen coffee.
According to many people, with information about fake, counterfeit, poor quality, and unsafe food products flooding the market, investing and innovating in production and providing quality products are the tasks that businesses and establishments need to do at this time.
