According to the Urban Railway Company No. 1, from November 1, the unit will continue to stop selling paper tickets containing QR codes at ticket counters at Thao Dien, An Phu, Binh Thai, Thu Duc, and High-Tech Park stations of metro line No. 1.

Previously, Ho Chi Minh City stopped selling paper tickets containing QR codes at ticket counters at the City Theater, Ba Son, Van Thanh, Tan Cang, Phuoc Long, and Rach Chiec stations. Thus, 11/14 stations of Metro Line 1 have now "said goodbye" to paper tickets.

Instead of buying tickets at the counter as before at these 5 stations, passengers can buy train tickets using electronic payment methods, without using cash.

Methods that can be used include buying tickets at ticket machines, automatic ticket kiosks; paying by bank card, e-wallet or via HCMC Metro HURC application. In case of needing assistance, passengers can contact station staff directly for instructions.

The company also provides instructions on registering for monthly tickets for students using metro line 1. Specifically, from November 1, student passengers must follow these steps:

Step 1: Students register for priority subjects on the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Citizen application.

Step 2: After completing registration on the Digital Citizen application, passengers go to one of the stations: City Theater, Tan Cang, Phuoc Long, National University to link their ID card/chip-embedded citizen ID card on the HCMC Metro HURC application.

Here, you present your student card or chip-embedded ID/citizen ID card and provide a certificate confirming that you are a student at the school you are attending (original) so that the station staff can verify the linked information.

Step 3: Once the information has been successfully verified, passengers who purchase student monthly tickets on the HCMC Metro HURC application use their ID card/citizen ID card with chip to board the train.

In case of losing or not being reissued ID card during the period of using monthly ticket, passengers can use QR code on HCMC Metro HURC application to continue taking the train.

"The company only collects the original student confirmation papers from the schools they are attending for record keeping," the company said.

Passengers are allowed to bring folding bikes on metro line 1 from 1-11

For passengers purchasing single-trip tickets at automatic ticket vending machines (TVM), automatic ticket kiosks, ticket counters or HCMC Metro HURC application, tickets are only valid on the day of purchase.

If the ticket expires and the passenger has not used it, the company will not refund in any case.

Regarding bringing folding bicycles on the train, from November 1, passengers are officially allowed to bring personal folding bicycles on the train (after a pilot period from August 1); personal folding bicycles must be folded neatly in a carrying bag, cannot be used in the station area and on the train, meet size regulations (not exceeding 120x70x40cm), do not obstruct space on the train and ensure operational safety.
