With the theme "I am a smart digital citizen," after the traditional flag-raising ceremony, students throughout the school watched a short play titled "Secrets Behind the Screen," featuring situations based on real-life scenarios that any student might have encountered.

The skit "Secrets Behind the Screen" was performed by the second-grade students themselves.

Immediately after the skit, Captain Nguyen Xuan Toan, an officer from the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Police, asked: "How do you react when you receive a strange call?"

Among the many hands raised to answer, one student replied, "I didn't do anything wrong, why are you calling me?" This elicited gasps of delight from all the other children. Many other answers surprised everyone present, such as one student saying, "Immediately tell an adult, tell the teacher..."

Captain Nguyen Xuan Toan, an officer from the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Police, shared his thoughts with the children.

According to Captain Nguyen Xuan Toan, students need to remember "three don'ts" when receiving calls from unknown numbers: don't believe them immediately, don't follow their instructions, and don't be afraid.

Captain Nguyen Xuan Toan continued by presenting real-life scenarios to help students stay vigilant: "If a strange phone number calls claiming to be a police officer asking for your address or what your parents do for a living, how should you answer...?"

Experts in combating high-tech crime also reminded students to remember "three don'ts": don't believe immediately, don't follow instructions, and don't be afraid. "When you receive such calls, you must immediately report it to your parents or teachers. Your teachers and parents will be your 'steel shield' protecting you. You absolutely must not remain silent, keep it a secret, or hide it when you receive a strange call; you must share it with an adult," Mr. Toan emphasized.

Immediately after the flag-raising ceremony, second-grade students continued to participate in "special stations" on their journey to becoming "smart digital citizens".

Students will experience five stations on their journey to becoming smart digital citizens.

Many students were enthusiastic about practical questions such as "What should you do when you see an inappropriate image online?". Students would choose one of the answers such as: Share the image with many people, don't click on it and don't share it with anyone, save it and send it to friends to see?...

These questions arise from real-life situations.

Gia Khang, a second-grade student, liked the question best: "If someone says unpleasant things to you online, what should you do? First, stay silent and tell an adult; second, argue back to prove you're right; third, say the unpleasant things back to them?"

At station 2, titled "Online Warnings": Students will use flashcards to form short, concise recommendations about online safety. At station 3, titled "Online Safety Robot," students will color posters on the theme of digital citizenship safety.

Station five, titled "Revealed or Secreted," will teach students the importance of protecting personal information when using the internet, and how to distinguish between information that should and shouldn't be shared...

Students will use flashcards to form short, concise online safety recommendations.

These games reinforce knowledge for exploring the digital world safely.

At the fourth station, titled " Exploring the Safe Digital World," students choose one of several topics to experience using the software available on the tablet, such as identifying fake information, determining safe software, online behavior, safe internet practices, dangers of revealing personal information, and identifying safe zones.

At the fifth station, titled "Revealed or Secreted," students will learn about the importance of protecting personal information when using the internet, and how to distinguish between information that should and shouldn't be shared...

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Ha, Head of the Grade 2 Subject Department, the thematic unit aims to educate students about the benefits and risks of participating in online activities; to form the right attitude and civilized, safe behavior in cyberspace. In addition, it equips students with basic knowledge and skills to protect themselves from online fraud, kidnapping, and other online threats. It fosters collaboration between the school, students, and parents in educating them to become "smart digital citizens," knowing how to use the internet for learning, connecting, and sharing positive things...
