The above information was announced by the Office of the People's Committee of the City on October 29th regarding the conclusions of the Chairman of the People's Committee of the City at the meeting of the Special Task Force to review and resolve difficulties and obstacles for construction projects, land plots, and other projects in the city.
Accordingly, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City supported the proposal of VinSpeed High-Speed Railway Investment and Development Joint Stock Company to adjust the starting point of the Can Gio metro line from Tan Thuan station to Ben Thanh station; and at the same time requested Vingroup to study the option of developing underground space combined with the development of public space in the Ben Thanh market area according to the city's general plan, in order to enhance urban aesthetics, promote tourism economy, and improve traffic in the area.
This helps improve operational efficiency, increase service coverage and connectivity between residential areas, commercial centers, and the city's economic and administrative center; enhances connectivity with metro lines within the city's urban rail system, contributing to the formation of a synchronized and convenient public transport network for residents.
Previously, VinSpeed proposed adjusting the Can Gio metro line, with the starting point in front of Ben Thanh Market (instead of Tan Thuan ward as previously proposed) and connecting with the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line; the end point would be in Can Gio commune. To reduce compensation, support, and resettlement costs, the section from Ben Thanh to Tan Thuan would be underground, while the section from Tan Thuan to Can Gio would follow the old plan (elevated).
Along with supporting the proposal to adjust the starting point of the route, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City requested the enterprise to continue researching the route to ensure feasibility, optimize exploitation capacity, increase connectivity and serve socio-economic development in accordance with the city's urban spatial development orientation.
VinSpeed Company is responsible for coordinating with relevant departments to update the route and add it to the city's urban railway plan; and for urgently completing the dossier to submit to the Appraisal Council for approval of the investment policy and the project investor.
The leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee instructed the Director of the Department of Finance - Chairman of the Appraisal Council - to urgently organize the appraisal of the application for approval of the investment policy and the approval of the investor in accordance with the law, and submit it to the City People's Committee for consideration and decision.
