In Dien Ban Tay commune, many places are flooded nearly 2 meters deep. Thanh An village, located on the banks of the Thu Bon River, is deeply submerged, hundreds of households have been isolated for many days. Currently, people have to use boats to move around and buy food and necessities.
Mr. Tran Cong Dung (a resident of Thanh An village) said: “The whole village is deeply flooded, so it is very difficult to row a boat out. Sometimes, to go shopping, we have to row a boat more than 3km and through many sections of strong currents. People asked me to help collect instant noodles, drinking water and flashlights... but many items are now sold out.”
Similarly, Mr. Tran Loi had to row his boat many kilometers to buy necessities for the whole neighborhood.
“I bought a few kilos of pork and some daily necessities. When I saw someone rowing a boat out, the neighbors asked me to help buy some more things. Many families needed gas stoves and mini gas tanks for cooking, but I couldn’t find any,” Loi said.
Households in less flooded areas use tractors to go grocery shopping. In addition to fast food, fresh vegetables and food are also in short supply. Some families have to ask relatives in higher areas to buy them and send them in by boat.

About 200 households in Thanh An village have been isolated by floodwaters for many days, many people have had to "get by" with instant noodles and dry food, waiting for the water to recede.
Ms. Tran Ly (a resident of Thanh An village) shared: "My house is out of lights, candles, and gas, so I can't cook anything. Now I'm waiting for the villagers' boats to buy some, and I'll eat whatever I have."
According to local people, the water in this area recedes very slowly, and just one heavy rain can cause the flood to rise again, making life a constant state of anxiety.
According to the Central Hydrometeorological Station, on the afternoon of October 29, data measured on the Thu Bon River showed that the water level of the Thu Bon River in many places was equal to or higher than the historical flood peak of the Year of the Dragon 1964.
As of 3:30 p.m. today, the water level on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon River and the Tam Ky River is rising rapidly again. The Central Hydrometeorological Station warns of urgent flooding, especially large on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon River.
