Giving strength to cancer patients
The program "Dream Hair Station" was recently held at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and received 891 hairs with much love to give patients more spiritual strength on their treatment journey.
At the program, Ms. Trieu Thi Bien, Deputy Head of Social Work Department, National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, expressed her sincere thanks for the activities of the Network for Children with Cancer and the program "Dream Hair Station" as well as the companionship of the community. This is an activity of great spiritual value to the patients, helping them gain more confidence and hope for the future.

Many children participated in donating hair at the program.
In order to provide mental support to pediatric cancer patients being treated at the Institute, especially those who have hair loss due to the side effects of chemotherapy, the Network for Children with Cancer has built the project “Dream Hair Station”. Through the project, the network receives hair donations from the community and makes wigs from real hair to give to pediatric patients.
As the co-founder and CEO of the Network for Children with Cancer, Ms. Hoang Thi Dieu Thuan shared her own story - a warrior who has spent more than 10 years fighting 2 diseases: leukemia and breast cancer: “I deeply understand the feelings of cancer patients when their hair is always weak and gradually falls out due to the side effects of chemotherapy. Beautiful hair is what I and many other patients always wished for at that time. Later, when looking back on my journey, I came up with the idea of establishing the "Dream Hair Station". Over the past 4 years, the program has always received enthusiastic support from the community, from philanthropists, hair stylists... Thanks to that, many patients and children with cancer have been given hair made from real hair, becoming more confident and happier".
Receiving beautiful hair from the program, little girl Nguyen Thuy Nhung (Children's Blood Disease Department, National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion) could not hide her emotion. After more than 3 years of treatment at the Institute, Nhung's hair had gradually fallen out during each treatment.
Since falling ill, this is the first time Thuy Nhung has been able to admire herself with long hair. Nhung confided: “I am very grateful and thankful to the uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters, and friends who donated my hair. This is the motivation for me to try harder and overcome the disease.”
Every hair donation comes from the heart.
At the program, hair donors were of all ages. Besides adults, there were also children as young as 4 years old, and especially there was a man who grew his hair just to donate.
Many people brought to the program neatly cut hair, and for those who had not had their hair cut, hair stylists from many hair salons in Hanoi volunteered to cut the hair of the donors.

Besides actively donating blood and platelets, Ms. Thuy Trang and her daughter continue to spread the spirit of sharing by donating hair.
Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Trang and her daughter (Chuong My) came to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to participate in the program “Dream Hair Station”. Here, Ms. Trang and her daughter cut off their long hair, which they had taken care of for more than a year, to give to children and women who have fought cancer.
For Ms. Thuy Trang, the Blood Institute is a familiar place, because every 21 days, she will be there to donate platelets. In 2025, she was honored as a National Outstanding Volunteer Blood Donor. Her volunteer journey continues steadfastly and spreads positive energy to those around her.
“Sometimes when I go to donate platelets and other volunteer activities, I also take my daughter along. She also really wants to donate blood but is not old enough, so I suggested that she could donate her hair and she happily agreed.”
As one of the few men who donated hair in the program, Nguyen Hong Minh was very happy when his hair was cut off. Minh said: “My hair will grow back after being cut off, but for those who are sick, have poor health conditions and are also women, hair is extremely important.”

Ms. Dao Thi Minh Thuy brought her daughter Nguyen Thanh Tra to participate in the hair donation program.
Ms. Dao Thi Minh Thuy and her daughter, Nguyen Thanh Tra, donated their hair for the second time. Ms. Thuy said that they had sent their hair to the program before, but this time, she and her husband wanted to let their daughter donate her hair directly and meet the sick children so that she could learn more about compassion and sharing.
The hair donated to the patients has been nurtured with kindness, love, and cared for by the hair donors. The program “Dream Hair Station” has touched the hearts of many people and will continue to spread so that cancer patients are always motivated by the community.
