Towards the important political events of the country and the locality, recently, more than 500 athletes and tourists participated in the first expanded "Coc San Golden Autumn" Mountain Climbing Tournament in 2025. With a 7.5 km long route, participants passed through hundreds of years old heritage banyan trees, followed white waterfalls, weaved between golden terraced fields and peaceful Mong villages. Not only a grassroots sports tournament, this event is also considered an important first step in the journey to make trekking tourism a key local product.

Ms. Le Thi Hang, an amateur athlete from Lao Cai ward, shared: “Although I have participated in many different mountain climbing competitions, the route at Coc San is really special. The terrain is diverse, with slopes, streams, and terraced fields, giving athletes many emotions. Some sections are quite dangerous, but the organizers have arranged support forces to ensure safety, helping participants feel secure and enjoy the journey to the fullest.”

The interesting thing about Coc San route is that many people can participate, from professional athletes to those trying it for the first time, even the elderly. The gentle mountain terrain, interspersed with short climbs, is challenging enough but not too harsh. At difficult points, the organizers arrange signposts, support ropes, wooden bridges across streams, etc. to help visitors feel secure in their experience. The first “Coc San Golden Autumn” climbing competition attracted hundreds of athletes from inside and outside the province; created a vibrant atmosphere, connected the community, aroused the sports spirit and pride in the homeland. The successful event not only affirmed the local tourism potential, but also opened a new direction in combining sports - tourism - indigenous culture.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhu Quynh - Vice Chairman of Coc San Commune People's Committee, said: "In addition to annual sports competitions, the commune will implement a series of events such as the Going to the Field Festival, the Cap Sac Festival, the Lam Rice Cuisine Festival... The activities will be widely promoted, attracting tourists from inside and outside the province, contributing to the development of community tourism associated with national identity".
