This year, the main sponsor of the Super Cup is Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company - THACO and the match will be called: National Super Cup 2024-2025, THACO Cup.
First held in 1999, the National Super Cup is the opening match of the new season. The 2024-2025 National Super Cup is a confrontation between the reigning V-League champion Nam Dinh Steel and the national cup winner Cong An Ha Noi FC. The match will be held on August 9, at Thien Truong Stadium, Nam Dinh Ward, Ninh Binh Province.
Speaking at the event, journalist Phung Cong Suong, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, co-Head of the Organizing Committee of the match, said: “This year’s Super Cup has a special meaning, celebrating important events of the country: the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2; 80th anniversary of the People’s Public Security Traditional Day. This is not only a football festival, but also an opportunity for us to review the heroic traditions of the nation, adding strength and confidence to the development path of Vietnamese football.”
This year, the National Super Cup trophy is specially designed. Inspired by the Dong Son bronze drum and the Lac bird, the trophy is made of silver-plated bronze, completely handcrafted, and is a symbol of national pride, the desire to conquer and the belief in victory in the new era.
The 2024-2025 National Football Super Cup will be held on the evening of August 9 at Thien Truong Stadium (Ninh Binh) between Nam Dinh Blue Steel (reigning national champion) and Hanoi Police (reigning national cup champion). This year is the 26th year that the Vietnam Football Super Cup has been held.
The Super Cup match between Nam Dinh Steel Blue and Hanoi Police FC will be broadcast live on FPT Play, FPT's social network system, Tien Phong Newspaper, VPF media channel and other free TV channels. According to the regulations, the two teams will compete for 90 minutes, if there is a draw, there will be a penalty shootout to determine the winner of the Super Cup without extra time. The champion team will receive the cup, the title board, medals and prizes. The team that wins the 2024-2025 National Super Cup, THACO Cup will receive a prize of 300 million VND, the losing team will receive 200 million VND. The prize for the player who scores the first goal is 10 million VND and the Best Player of the match will receive 10 million VND.
The 2024-2025 National Super Cup match, THACO Cup, will have representatives from the World Football Federation (FIFA) in attendance, and VAR technology is also expected to be applied.
