According to the 10th grade admission plan announced by Hanoi, candidates have 3 wishes to enter high school, in which wishes 1 and 2 are in the admission area the candidate has registered, wish 3 is in any admission area.
According to regulations of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, for public high schools, candidates who pass the first choice will not be considered for the second or third choice.
Candidates who do not pass their first choice can be considered for their second choice but must have an admission score at least 1 point higher than the school's admission score for their first choice.
Candidates who fail to pass their first and second choices can be considered for their third choice but must have an admission score at least 2 points higher than the school's admission score for their first choice.
When the admission score is lowered, public high schools are allowed to accept candidates with second and third wishes who meet the admission requirements.
According to the plan, from July 7 to 9, schools will return application documents and admission exam results for grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year to students.
Before July 10, schools will receive appeal applications, submit appeal applications and lists of students to the Department of Education and Training.
From July 10 to 12, high schools, vocationaleducation - continuing education centers, and vocational education institutions will organize admission confirmation.
No later than July 17, the Department of Education and Training and specialized high schools and public high schools will meet to approve additional benchmark scores for public grade 10 (if any).
From July 19 to 22, schools will organize admission confirmation and receive additional admission applications (if any).
One of the notable new points in this year's 10th grade entrance exam is the adjustment of the standard score calculation method. Instead of multiplying the coefficient by 2 for math and literature as in previous years; in 2025, the admission score will be the total score of 3 subjects (math, literature, foreign language), each subject is calculated on a 10-point scale and does not multiply the coefficient.
The formula for calculating admission scores to grade 10 of non-specialized public high schools in Hanoi in 2025 is as follows:
DXT = math score + literature score + foreign language score + priority score (if any) + incentive score (if any).
The entrance exam for non-specialized public grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year will be held on June 7 and 8; the specialized exam will be held on June 9. This is the first exam for junior high school graduates under the new general education program.
The exam is considered to have changed in a positive direction, assessing learners' abilities instead of simply testing knowledge.
This year, the whole city of Hanoi has 115,951 candidates registered to take the exam, of which 102,860 candidates are taking the non-specialized public exam and 13,091 candidates are taking the specialized exam.
The enrollment target for public high schools in Hanoi this year accounts for about 64% of the number of applicants, about 2-3% higher than last year.
