Candidates who fail all 3 10th grade wishes in Ho Chi Minh City still have a chance to take additional exams

The information was announced by Mr. Le Hoai Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, at a meeting to guide the submission of application documents for grade 10 admission for the 2024-2025 school year on the afternoon of July 3.

According to the instructions of the Department of Education and Training, students who have passed the 10th grade entrance exam will confirm their enrollment from July 4 to 5:00 p.m. on July 12 online.

From July 13 to July 16, high schools will report to the Department of Education and Training the number of confirmed applications, needs and additional recruitment numbers.

From July 17 to July 31, high schools will receive applications directly from candidates who have confirmed their admission online.

If the high school has not yet recruited enough students, the Department of Education and Training will develop a plan to recruit additional students for the school to ensure the school meets its quota. Students who do not pass any of the three wishes will be allowed to participate in the second round of additional recruitment.

Students who have been admitted but do not submit their application and wait for additional consideration will not be accepted.

"The additional recruitment is to help students who achieve high exam scores but fail any of their wishes to continue studying at public schools and to help high schools that are short of quotas, especially high schools in the suburbs, ensure that they meet their quotas," Mr. Le Hoai Nam stated.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City assessed that the enrollment work for grade 10 in Ho Chi Minh City in 2024 was carried out in accordance with the policy, and public high schools in the city had met the grade 10 enrollment quota.

Mr. Nam noted that after knowing the admission scores for grade 10, high schools need to instruct parents on how to register for online admission confirmation before submitting admission applications directly.

High schools need to arrange and organize teaching activities at their units appropriately so that students admitted to grade 10 can access the 2018 General Education Program without being confused. Schools need to carefully prepare conditions in terms of staff, facilities, programs, and elective subjects so that students can study well.

In 2023, for the first time, Ho Chi Minh City will conduct additional recruitment for public high schools that have not yet met their enrollment targets. At the end of the application period for additional 10th grade admission in Ho Chi Minh City, schools have received 1,014 applications, concentrated in suburban schools.
