This morning (June 4), nearly 5,721 candidates took the entrance exam to grade 10 at Hanoi National University of Education High School. Many students came from the provinces of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Ha Tinh, etc., to take the exam at this school.
With a target of 420 while 5,721 candidates registered for the exam, the competition ratio for grade 10 of Hanoi National University of Education's specialized high school this year is 1/14. The highest competition ratio is 1/23 for the English specialized class.
Duong Ba Lam (student of Vinh Yen Secondary School, Vinh Phuc ) said that he and his father went to Hanoi the day before to take the entrance exam for the 10th grade specialized in physics. The father and son stayed at an acquaintance's house. "I studied quite thoroughly so I'm quite confident," Lam said.
Previously, Lam had just taken the entrance exam to grade 10 at Vinh Phuc Specialized Secondary School. The male student was confident that he could do about 80% of the test. "I will study for the entrance exam to specialized schools around grade 8. If I pass both schools, I will choose Vinh Phuc Specialized High School because it is close to home," Lam said.

Also taking the entrance exam for the specialized physics class, Nguyen Tuan Dung (Vinh Phuc) said that he had just attended a specialized school in the locality.
Previously, Dung had won 3 provincial physics competitions. To take the entrance exam to grade 10 of the National University of Education High School, Dung studied from grade 7.
Ms. Le Thi Lan (Thach Ha, Ha Tinh ) also traveled nearly 400km to take her grandchild to Hanoi for the exam. It is known that due to family matters, even though she is 69 years old, she had to replace her parents to take her grandchild to the exam. The two of them came here yesterday, after the exam they will catch a bus back to their hometown.
Very confident about this year's exam, Do Minh Bao, a student at Archimedes School (Hanoi) said that he will take the exam for the Biology major. Previously, Bao took the exam for the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences (under the Hanoi National University). His goal is to choose a school that has an easy chance of finding a scholarship.

This year, the total number of candidates registered for the exam is 5,721, divided into 8 exam locations with 210 exam rooms.
Compared to 2024, the difference this year is that there will be 4 exams in 2 days (in 2024 there will be 3 exams in 1 day), plus 1 general English subject.
The general math and general literature exams combine both essay and multiple choice. This exam format is similar to the Hanoi National University of Education's competency assessment exam. About 70% of the score is essay, 30% is multiple choice, and the test time is 120 minutes. This is different from last year's exam format, which was 100% essay, and the test time was 90 minutes.
This year, the test time for specialized subjects will increase to 150 minutes, except for specialized subjects for English and Chemistry, which will have a test time of 120 minutes (in 2024: the test time for all specialized subjects will be 120 minutes).

Notably, this year the school has 3 ways to calculate admission scores, instead of applying the same formula as usual.
For the specialized exam group of math, IT, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, the admission score is the total score of general math and specialized subject multiplied by coefficient 2. Literature and English scores are only conditional scores.
Similarly, for the literature group, the admission score is the sum of the general literature score and the specialized literature score multiplied by a coefficient of 2.
For the English specialized exam group, the admission score is the sum of general English and specialized English multiplied by coefficient 2.
To be eligible for admission, candidates must achieve a minimum score of 3.5/10 in all subjects.
The exam results will be announced before June 30 on the website of Hanoi National University of Education or Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted. The school will not send a notice of exam results.
