The Ministry of Education and Training has created conditions for candidates studying the 2006 education program (independent candidates) to take the graduation exam according to the curriculum. However, these candidates have encountered many difficulties in the review process. Some high schools have "rolled up their sleeves" to help them. Nguyen Manh Linh (Hanoi), a first-year student at a university in Hanoi, shared that he registered to take the high school graduation exam to apply for university because his current major was not suitable. While studying at university and reviewing the general education program, Manh Linh's time is very limited. The difficulty is that there are very few classes reviewing the 2006 education program. There are even subjects that do not have classes to review.

Faced with the difficulties of independent candidates, the locality has proposed support solutions. The Department of Education and Training of Bac Kan has directededucational institutions to review and classify students to develop teaching plans to ensure quality and effectiveness. For grade 12, the professional group and subject teachers carefully studied the structure and matrix of the reference exam for the 2025 high school graduation exam of the Ministry of Education and Training, guiding students to review effectively, contributing to improving the quality of review and graduation exam results. For students who have completed high school and continuing education but have not graduated, if they wish to review, educational institutions in the area will organize review sessions suitable to actual conditions; support and guide students to register for the high school graduation exam online.

In Lai Chau , some independent candidates want to go to high schools or continuing education centers to review. However, implementing the new regulations on extra classes and tutoring, schools guide students to self-study or choose licensed exam preparation facilities. In 2025, Lai Chau is expected to have nearly 4,500 candidates taking the high school graduation exam, of which 4,205 candidates will officially take the exam under the 2018 General Education Program. The Lai Chau education sector has disseminated the new points of the exam to all students, parents and people, especially for candidates who have completed the 2006 general education program but have not graduated from high school and candidates who have graduated from high school but wish to take the exam for university admission.

Don't be subjective when registering

Preliminary statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training show that over 1 million candidates registered for the high school graduation exam. Of which, candidates studying the 2018 program accounted for over 97%, the rest were independent candidates studying the 2006 program (about 30,000 candidates). Independent candidates registered for the 2018 general education program were over 12,000 (accounting for 1.2%); independent candidates registered for the 2006 general education program were over 16,500 (accounting for 1.6%).

Although the deadline is still 2 days away, most candidates have completed their registration for the 2025 high school graduation exam. According to the recommendations of experienced teachers, students should absolutely not be subjective in this registration step. Even though they have completed their exam registration, students need to log back into the system at least three times to check, review, and ensure that the process and information registered in the form are correct and complete.

The first important information that candidates need to carefully review is to declare the correct program they are studying. Specifically, in section 9, if the candidate is studying a general education program, select "general education", if the candidate is studying a regular education program, select "regular education".

The special feature of this year's high school graduation exam is that there are 2 types of exam questions for 2 groups of candidates. Candidates should note this during the screening process to ensure that they register for the right group. Candidates who have completed the 2018 program (currently in grade 12) must register for the exam in Literature, Mathematics and 2 subjects from the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Industrial Technology, Agricultural Technology, Foreign Languages.

Section 10 is only for independent candidates, candidates studying in grade 12 at general schools, vocational education centers - continuing education do not check this section. This is the section that many grade 12 candidates make mistakes. Although the schools have given detailed instructions, in the recent trial registration, a representative of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that more than 1,300 students studying in grade 12 checked this section.

Section 14, regarding registration for exemption from foreign language exams, candidates who wish to use certificates to be exempted from foreign language exams for graduation recognition shall enter valid certificates into the system. If candidates wish to take foreign language exams for graduation but at the same time use foreign language certificates for university and college admission, they shall not enter foreign language certificates when registering for the exam. Foreign language certificates will be submitted additionally when considering university and college admission.

Choosing an elective subject is not only related to graduation, but also has a big impact on the chance of being admitted to university or college. Therefore, candidates need to carefully review the admission plan of the universities they want to consider, if necessary, they can seek advice from experts and teachers to decide on the appropriate elective subject. Because after the registration deadline, candidates cannot change their elective subject.
