A video shared on social media shows two groups of Manchester United and Tottenham fans fighting fiercely in the streets of Bilbao. The fans are said to have accidentally met on the street. When they saw each other, they started to provoke and insult each other.
Given the combative nature of English fans, it was no surprise that both sides went at each other with fists and kicks. They even threw objects they picked up on the side of the road at each other.
Tables, chairs, and trash cans were strewn across the street, creating a chaotic scene that posed a serious threat to businesses along the road. It was not until the police intervened that things were brought under control. Ambulances were called to provide first aid to the injured.

England fans are flocking to Bilbao, Spain |
No arrests were made by local police. But the incident was a real warning to organisers about the risk of riots on the sidelines of the final at San Mames, despite their careful preparations beforehand.
Up to 80,000 English fans are expected to descend on Bilbao, Spain, for the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup. But only half of that number will be allowed into the stadium. The four or so fans outside could put a lot of pressure on local police as English fans are notorious for being rowdy and drunk.
To control the situation, the police closed the trains to Bilbao early to prevent the crowd from arriving before kick-off. They also prevented Tottenham and Manchester United fans from clashing with each other by creating a space for fans of each team to cheer at a distance. However, it will be very difficult to completely prevent conflicts between the two teams.
