Mobile propaganda contest to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the opening of the Ho Chi Minh trail

Attending the contest were Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huy - Deputy Director of the Department of Grassroots Culture, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. On the side of Gia Lai province, there were comrades: Truong Hai Long - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; 150 singers, actors, artists from 5 mobile propaganda teams of the provinces: An Giang, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, Tay Ninh, Thai Nguyen.

With the theme “ Ho Chi Minh Trail - The Legendary Road”, the art performances of the 5 groups were staged in 3 parts: “Footsteps on the Truong Son Range”, “Meeting on the Truong Son Peak and “Truong Son - The Legendary Road”.

Throughout the program are melodies that are both heroic and profound such as: medley “Trumpet Song - Fatherland in the Heart”, dance “Following the Legend”, traditional solo “Truong Son Diary”; group song “The Girl Who Opened the Road”; ensemble “Truong Son Improvisation”; solo “Missing You in the Forest”; solo “My Road Goes Long Along the Country”; medley “Singing on the Homeland Road - Truong Son Road Your Car Passed - Truong Son Stick”…

In addition, the competition program also has folk-inspired performances such as: singing Mong ethnic children's songs; "Sparkling indigo" dance (Tay ethnic group); "Overwhelming spring market" male choir...

Speaking at the contest, Mr. Tran Ngoc Nhung - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism shared: The war is over, but the Truong Son road - Ho Chi Minh road will forever go down in Vietnamese history as a symbol of revolutionary heroism, a miracle of our nation in the 20th century.

In the 16 years since our Party decided to establish Group 559 to “open a special road” on May 19, 1959 until the country’s reunification on April 30, 1975, the Truong Son-Ho Chi Minh Trail has fulfilled its historic mission as a bridge connecting the great rear of the North with the great frontline of the South; it is both a logistics base and an important military transport route, directly ensuring the entire battlefield of Southern Indochina.

During the war, tens of thousands of cadres, soldiers, youth volunteers, laborers, and local people stood side by side, bravely and steadfastly, with the will to “cut through Truong Son to save the country”. Also on this legendary road, tens of thousands of the country’s outstanding sons and daughters have passed away forever. With that meaning, the Truong Son-Ho Chi Minh Trail was ranked as a special national monument by the Prime Minister in 2013.

In Gia Lai, Truong Son-Ho Chi Minh road is located in Ia Dom commune (Duc Co district), 75 km west of Pleiku city, where Le Thanh international border gate connects Vietnam with Cambodia.

“Nearly 50 years after the country’s reunification, the competition is an opportunity for us to gain a deeper understanding of the historical and cultural traditions of our homeland and country; the heroism, the will to be self-reliant, and the spirit of great national unity. At the same time, this is also an opportunity for units to meet, exchange, and learn from each other’s experiences in performing for the grassroots; an opportunity for local people to enjoy many attractive art performances, with regional cultural characteristics...” - Mr. Tran Ngoc Nhung emphasized.

The Mobile Propaganda Competition took place from April 19 to 27, attracting the participation of 23 mobile propaganda teams from provinces and cities across the country. The teams toured to serve people along the Truong Son-Ho Chi Minh Trail at 31 performance locations in 12 provinces and cities including: Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Binh Phuoc and Binh Duong.

In Gia Lai, in addition to the performance at Dai Doan Ket Square, 5 mobile propaganda teams from the provinces and cities of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Hanoi, Ha Tinh, Lam Dong, and Tra Vinh will perform for the people at 24-6 Square (Dak Po district) on the evening of April 23.
