On December 8, the Russian Defense Ministry said that its air defense forces had shot down 46 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in five regions earlier that day.
Specifically, 17 UAVs were shot down in Belgorod, 12 in Kursk, 6 in Voronezh, 7 in Rostov and 4 in Astrakhan. Earlier, the Ukrainian Navy announced that it had carried out a naval UAV attack on gas platforms off the coast of Crimea. The attack is said to have destroyed the surveillance systems that Russian forces had installed on these platforms.
On December 12, Ukraine sent a UAV to attack a Chechen police barracks, lightly injuring four people, the second attack on a police facility in the region in a week. The UAV exploded in the air, damaging the roof and windows and causing a small fire that was quickly brought under control.
