Weather on November 23: Heavy rain continues, flood levels on many rivers remain high

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the morning of November 23, Hue City, Da Nang City and the eastern region of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa and many places in the Southwest region will have rain, showers, and thunderstorms in some places.

During the day and night of November 23, rain is forecast to continue to increase in Hue City, Da Nang and the East of Quang Ngai Province. Many areas are forecast to have moderate to heavy rain, with rainfall ranging from 60-120mm, with some places exceeding 250mm, with a high risk of local flooding. Meanwhile, the East of the provinces from Gia Lai to Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong and the Southern region will continue to have scattered rain, with rainfall ranging from 10-30mm, with some places exceeding 70mm.

Prolonged heavy rains have caused floods in river systems to rise. Currently, floods on the Krong Ana River ( Dak Lak ), Dinh Ninh Hoa River (Khanh Hoa) and Dong Nai River are showing a decreasing trend, while the Kon River (Gia Lai) continues to fluctuate. In the next 12 hours, the water level of the Krong Ana River will continue to decrease but will remain above alert level 3; the Dong Nai River will gradually decrease below alert level 2.

In the next 12-24 hours, the flood level of these rivers will continue to decrease but will remain at a high alert level. It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the flood level on Dinh Ninh Hoa River will drop below alert level 2; Kon River at Thanh Hoa will fluctuate around alert level 1, and Srepok River at Ban Don will remain at a high level above alert level 3.

Flooding continues to occur in the provinces and cities of Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa and some neighboring areas. Low-lying areas along the Dong Nai River are at risk of new flooding. The provinces and cities of Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa and Dong Nai need to be on guard against flash floods on small rivers and streams and landslides on steep slopes.

At sea, strong winds are posing a danger to maritime activities. The North East Sea, including the Hoang Sa area, has strong northeast winds of level 7, gusts of 8-9; Ly Son station recorded strong northeast winds of level 6, gusts of level 7, Phu Quy station recorded gusts of level 7. It is forecasted that on the day and night of November 23, this area will continue to have strong winds of level 6-7, gusts of 8-9, rough seas, and waves of 3-5m high.

The sea area from South Quang Tri to Quang Ngai and the northern part of the central East Sea has northeast wind at level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7-8, rough sea, waves from 2-4m high. Meanwhile, the sea area from South Quang Tri to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to An Giang, the sea area west of the central East Sea, the southern East Sea (including the Truong Sa sea area), has scattered showers and thunderstorms; in thunderstorms, there is a risk of tornadoes and strong gusts of level 6-7.

Localities and fishermen are warned to proactively deploy response measures to ensure safety for people and vehicles at sea as well as in areas at high risk of floods and landslides.

The wind from the north to northwest is level 3. The morning and night are cold. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. The lowest temperature is 18-21 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature is 21-24 degrees Celsius, some places in the North are above 24 degrees Celsius.

The South Central Coast region is cloudy, with moderate to heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms in the North; scattered showers and thunderstorms in the South, locally heavy rain. Northeast to north wind level 3. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts. The lowest temperature in the North is 20-22 degrees Celsius, in the South is 23-25 ​​degrees Celsius. The Central Highlands is cloudy with rain, scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain. Northeast wind level 2-3. Highest temperature 24-27 degrees Celsius, some places above 27 degrees Celsius.

The South is cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy rain. Northeast wind level 2-3. There is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts during thunderstorms. The lowest temperature is 23-26 degrees Celsius, with some places in the East below 23 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature is 28-31 degrees Celsius, with some places above 31 degrees Celsius.

Ho Chi Minh City is cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Northeast wind level 2-3. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperature 24-26 degrees Celsius. Highest temperature 29-31 degrees Celsius.
