What will the weather be like from now until Lunar New Year?

Reporter (PV): Could you tell us about the cold air mass currently affecting the Northern region?

Mr. Vu Anh Tuan : The recent cold spell was a weak cold spell, shifting to the East and affecting some provinces in the North and North Central regions. Due to the influence of cold air combined with the strong westerly wind from high altitudes, it caused rain and light rain in the North, from Thanh Hoa to Nghe An provinces.

PV : So how will the temperature in this area change in the coming days, sir?

Mr. Vu Tuan Anh : Due to the impact of weak cold air, the temperature in the Northern and North Central regions also decreased slightly, the lowest in the Northern Delta and midland areas and the center of Hanoi is generally from 16 - 18 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas the temperature dropped to 14-16 degrees Celsius, in some other places it dropped below 12 degrees Celsius.

In Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, the temperature will not decrease much. The weather will turn cold in the Northern regions. In the coming days, due to the cold air weakening and shifting to the East, from now until the coming days, the temperature will tend to increase slightly.

PV : With the current situation, light rain and drizzle are still occurring frequently. So will this phenomenon continue in the coming days, sir?

Mr. Vu Anh Tuan : According to our assessment, in the past few days, there has been rain and light rain, causing reduced visibility. However, with light rain and non-saturated humidity, the mentioned dampness phenomenon is unlikely to occur in the near future.

PV : After this cold spell, will the weather be different in the coming time?

Mr. Vu Anh Tuan : According to our assessment, from January 19-21, there is a possibility of a new cold front strengthening down to the provinces in our country. This cold front is more dry than humid, so it will cause rain, so the temperature will also decrease, causing cold weather in the coming days.

From now until the end of the month and the Lunar New Year is a period within the winter cycle, so there will be cold air waves and the frequency of cold air in January 2024 will appear more. At the same time, in the period from late January to early February 2024, there will also be repeated light rains in the Northern region.
