Vietnamese fashion is favored by international stars

Many of the world's most beautiful female stars wear clothes by Vietnamese designers.

Chinese silver screen star Fan Bingbing, when appearing at the Cannes Film Festival 2023 in late May, stunned fashionistas with two gorgeous outfits by Vietnamese designer Chung Thanh Phong. The Cannes red carpet is considered a " fashion race" for fashion and film stars; and the Chinese beauty succeeded in attracting attention. With a butterfly-shaped mirror dress - a prominent design from the CTP No.2 collection that Chung Thanh Phong launched last April in Phu Quoc, Fan Bingbing made a strong impression on the public, praising the dress as "absolutely beautiful". When attending a party at Cannes 2023, actress Fan Bingbing continued to wear a see-through dress also designed by Chung Thanh Phong.

Chung Thanh Phong (35 years old, born in Da Nang , founded a fashion brand in Ho Chi Minh City since 2013) said that Pham Bang Bang's stylist contacted him to order this design. Based on the original dress model, he edited it according to the star's measurements to send it to China in time. "After wearing two outfits, she expressed her desire to cooperate with me in the future. She expressed her surprise when she saw that Vietnamese products were as sophisticated and flattering as international brands," said the young designer.

Also on the Cannes red carpet, American actress Caylee Cowan - who has appeared in the films Frank and Penelope (2022), Willy's Wonderland (2021), Sunrise in Heaven (2019) - chose outfits designed by designer Nguyen Minh Tuan twice. The first dress has a blue butterfly motif, inspired by Blue Butterfly - her favorite work, which means freedom and living your dreams. The second outfit is Hoang Kim, made in mid-2022, inspired by the image of the Turtle Tower at Hoan Kiem Lake (Hanoi) at night. Nguyen Minh Tuan (31 years old, graduated as valedictorian of Fashion Design from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) in 2016) expressed: "I am happy that my designs are getting attention. Although I am busy with many orders, I still decided to accept the job because I am excited about the opportunity to bring Vietnamese fashion to the world".

Designer Cong Tri, a member of the Asian Fashion Association, has been considered a "new phenomenon" in the international fashion industry for more than 6 years, having been voted by Hollywood Reporter magazine as one of three prominent designers in the fashion industry in the US. This Vietnamese designer's journey to conquer many world stars began with the milestone of Rihanna wearing his clothes for a 2017 advertising photoshoot, then the launch of the collection The Walk of the Stars at New York Fashion Week 2019, the collection Picking Up the Slanted Dew at New York Fashion Week 2020 and a series of Hollywood stars choosing Cong Tri's outfits such as: Beyoncé, Charlize Theron, Katy Perry, Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Camila Cabello, Kate Bosworth... Recently, in early June, Lisa - singer of the famous Korean group Black Pink, dubbed "The most beautiful star on the planet" - impressed when wearing a red bow-shaped crop top, combined with high-waisted straight-leg pants by designer Cong Tri. At the premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in the US, star Karen Gillan attracted attention when wearing a sexy slit dress from the Cong Tri brand. In the February show Weekends with Adele in the US, singer Adele appeared elegant and charming in a dress by Cong Tri and performed brilliantly in front of thousands of spectators. This was a rare occasion for the "British nightingale" to wear a design from Asia and Cong Tri was the only Asian designer to accompany the Hello singer in the Weekends with Adele show series alongside a series of famous fashion houses such as Valentino, Givenchy, Prada, Schiaparelli, Balmain...

Developing an international fashion brand

Designer Do Manh Cuong said he will launch a new collection at New York Fashion Week (taking place from September 7 to 13 in the US). The show of the fashion brand Sixdo, which he founded, is scheduled to take place at 3 p.m. on September 10 at Spring Studios - where many major fashion houses have introduced their collections, such as Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Oscar de la Renta, and Zimmermann. "I have always liked to organize my own shows, but when I founded the Sixdo line, I found the name suitable for the international market and wanted to develop an international fashion brand," said designer Do Manh Cuong. Sixdo brand CEO Pham Huy Can said: "We chose New York because it has had a large number of customers in this market in the past few years. This place is a big center of fashion, a dreamland for many brands. From here, the opportunity for development is also greater."

Sharing about the successes that have contributed to Vietnamese fashion being mentioned more by the world, designer Cong Tri said: "I feel honored and proud that Vietnamese fashion is noticed and accepted by the world. Up to now, nearly 150 international stars have chosen to wear CONG TRI brand designs. When naming the brand, I wrote without accents to easily approach foreign customers, aiming at the international level. Every time I see customers wearing my clothes being highly appreciated by major fashion magazines, I feel energized to pursue the path and strategy of internationalizing Vietnamese fashion that I have outlined."

Ms. Trang Le, President of Vietnam International Fashion Week, a program that experts consider the top international fashion week in Southeast Asia and the fourth in Asia, said: "The goal of organizing it twice a year, with the participation of nearly 20 designers and major domestic and international fashion brands participating in presenting new collections, is that we hope to pave the way and give wings to Vietnamese fashion to reach out to regional and international markets."
