Notice of salt production schedule for the 2025-2026 season

Based on the Hydrometeorological Bulletin dated October 15, 2025 of the Hydrometeorological Station of Ca Mau province, on November 10, 2025, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has just issued a Notice on the salt production schedule for the 2025 - 2026 season to help salt farmers proactively produce, limit risks and improve crop efficiency. Accordingly, the production preparation phase starts from around November 30 to December 5, 2025. During this time, salt farmers need to focus on clearing, draining water, drying yards, dredging canals, reinforcing dams, repairing culverts and taking water into the reservoir, ensuring conditions are ready for the new salt crop. The production and harvest phase takes place from December 6, 2025 and lasts until early April 2026. Producers need to pay attention to the stages of drying water, transferring water to the crystallization cell, improving and compacting the yard floor. For soil crystallization yards, the first harvest should be done after 18-20 days to bring the water to the required salinity; for tarpaulin-covered yards, the harvest can be done earlier, after 8-15 days depending on the quality requirements of the salt grains. During this time, salt farmers need to closely monitor weather developments, especially unseasonal rains, storms and high tides, and proactively cover the rain and preserve the harvested salt to minimize damage.

The end of the crop season is expected to be from early to mid-April 2026. As the dry season is about to end, salt farmers need to urgently put salt into storage, transfer saline water to storage ponds, and prepare conditions for aquaculture rotation during the rainy season to increase income.
In addition, the Department of Agriculture and Environment assigned the Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development to coordinate with the authorities of salt-producing communes to deploy and guide salt farmers to implement a crop calendar suitable to weather developments, ensuring the 2025-2026 salt crop is effective, productive and of high quality. Localities are required to closely monitor the production situation and promptly report difficulties and problems to the Department for consideration and handling within their authority.
The issuance of the salt production calendar for the 2025-2026 season demonstrates the initiative of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ca Mau province in directing and managing production according to hydrometeorological developments. The close coordination between specialized agencies and local authorities and the proactive awareness of salt farmers will contribute significantly to stabilizing production, improving productivity, quality and value of the province's salt grains in this year's season./.
