Official information on mud mixture eruption on Cat Linh street (Hanoi)

(PLVN) - On the afternoon of May 27, during the excavation of TBM No. 1, a mud mixture was sprayed onto the ground in front of houses 25C and 25E Cat Linh, Cat Linh ward, Dong Da district (Hanoi).

The Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board (MRB) has just officially announced the phenomenon of mud mixture spraying onto the ground during the tunnel drilling process with the first TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) at the underground section of the Hanoi Urban Railway Pilot Project, Nhon - Hanoi Station section.

Accordingly, on the afternoon of May 27, 2025, during the excavation of TBM No. 1, a mud mixture was sprayed onto the ground in front of houses 25C and 25E Cat Linh, Cat Linh ward, Dong Da district.

As soon as the above phenomenon was discovered, the contractor immediately activated the Project's emergency procedure, under the supervision of the Investor, the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board (MRB), the Supervision Consultant (PIC), local authorities and related units, to stop drilling by TBM No. 1 to reduce the amount of mud jetting up but still ensure the stability of the excavation face.

The contractor has taken remedial measures, mobilized maximum manpower, sludge suction trucks, collected and treated sludge at the scene, and re-examined geological conditions in the area where the phenomenon occurred to soon stabilize the situation.

“Currently, MRB is working closely with relevant units to accurately assess the cause and deploy technical measures to prevent similar incidents in the next phase,” MRB informed.
