On May 28, the Office of the Hue City People's Committee said that Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong had sent a document to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) proposing the establishment of a Council to assess the status and propose a plan to preserve and repair the national treasure - the Nguyen Dynasty throne - after it was broken while on display at Thai Hoa Palace, Hue Imperial City on May 24 (SGGP Newspaper reported).

The document stated that, implementing the direction of the Government Office in Official Dispatch No. 4623/VPCP-KGVX dated May 25 on the inspection, assessment and handling of information related to the above incident, the People's Committee of Hue City was assigned to organize an inspection of the current technical status of the treasure and propose a plan for preservation and restoration in accordance with regulations.
However, due to the lack of specific regulations on the establishment of a Council to evaluate and develop a plan for the restoration of national treasures, the Hue City People's Committee proposed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism preside over the establishment of the Council or issue a written authorization for the locality to implement. At the same time, it requested the Ministry to provide specific direction and guidance so that the implementation process is smooth, strict and follows the correct procedures.

The Hue City People's Committee also said it will invite experts and researchers in the field of cultural heritage, along with representatives of management agencies and professional units to participate in the Council to comprehensively assess the status of the throne, thereby proposing appropriate, effective and timely restoration plans.
