On the morning of August 23, Ms. Tran Thi Minh Phuong (residing in Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province) reported to the Quang Nam Provincial Employment Service Center that she had unexpectedly received a decision to revoke her unemployment benefits from a stranger.
According to the content of the decision sent to Ms. Phuong, during the period of receiving unemployment benefits, Ms. Phuong found a job and participated in social insurance which coincided with the month of receiving unemployment benefits. Ms. Phuong's receipt of unemployment benefits violated Article 22 of Decree 28/2015/ND-CP; Ms. Phuong is required to return the entire amount of nearly 3 million VND that was received incorrectly as soon as possible.
The document of the scammer also stated: "The decision to implement is effective from August 15, 2023 to August 25, 2023"; asking Ms. Phuong to transfer the amount of money she received incorrectly to the account named PHAN THANH DAT - VIET NAM Social Insurance at MB bank.
To verify the information, Ms. Phuong sent the above document to the Quang Nam Provincial Employment Service Center for authentication and confirmed that this was a fake document.
Speaking with Dan Tri reporter, a representative of Quang Nam province's Social Insurance said that the document sent to Ms. Phuong was a fake document, sent by scammers.
According to the representative of the Social Insurance Agency, there is currently a problem that everyone can download the apps of banks and then declare online. However, the banks cannot control or delete keywords related to state agencies and units such as Vietnam Social Insurance Agency, provincial Social Insurance Agency, etc.
"This makes people vulnerable to scammers if they are not alert and verify information carefully like Ms. Phuong in the above case," said the leader of the Social Insurance of Quang Nam province.
Quang Nam Provincial Social Insurance has issued a notice about this fraud situation to warn.
