Goalkeeper Dang Van Lam misses Asian Cup 2023

December 31 is also the first training day of the Vietnamese team, preparing for the 2023 Asian Cup (taking place from January 12 to February 10, 2024 in Qatar).

After checking the health of the players, the medical team of the Vietnam team announced that Dang Van Lam, Nguyen Duc Chien and Nguyen Thanh Nhan will not recover in time for the 2023 Asian Cup.

Specifically, Dang Van Lam suffered a leg tendon injury, Duc Chien suffered a foot injury, and Thanh Nhan suffered an ankle injury.

Among these, the most regrettable case is that of goalkeeper Dang Van Lam. The goalkeeper currently playing for Binh Dinh team has been a regular in the Vietnam national team since 2017.

Even with the recent appearance of goalkeeper Nguyen Filip, goalkeeper Dang Van Lam still has his own advantages. Dang Van Lam has experience with the Vietnamese team and understands his teammates around him.

After goalkeeper Dang Van Lam withdrew from the national team due to injury, coach Troussier's team now has only two goalkeepers, Nguyen Filip and Nguyen Dinh Trieu. It is very likely that in the coming days, the French coach will add more goalkeepers, because participating in the Asian Cup with only two goalkeepers is very dangerous.

Earlier this morning (December 31), Coach Troussier announced the addition of two defenders, including right-back Ho Tan Tai and center-back Bui Tien Dung.

These are experienced and highly skilled players, filling in for positions that have just left the team due to injury, including defenders Nguyen Thanh Chung and Hoang Van Toan.

According to the plan, the Vietnamese team will have a few days of training in Hanoi , before going to Qatar from January 5. On January 9, Coach Troussier's team will play a friendly match with Kyrgyzstan in Qatar. On January 14, the Vietnamese team will compete in the 2023 Asian Cup, against Japan.
