Today (December 28), the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Thuan An City, Binh Duong Province, said that Trinh Hoai Duc Secondary School had reported an incident where homemade fireworks exploded, injuring a male student.
According to the report, at noon on December 27, after taking the first semester exam at school, NAK (9th grade student) and a group of friends bought a mixture of chemicals and brought them to K.'s house to make fireworks.
After finishing the construction, the group took it to the riverbank to test it. There, the firecracker suddenly exploded, crushing K.'s hand.
Immediately afterwards, the remaining students took K. to a nearby clinic for emergency treatment. However, due to the severity of his injuries, K. was transferred to the Orthopedic Trauma Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for further treatment.
After receiving information about the incident, the leaders of Trinh Hoai Duc Secondary School coordinated with An Thanh Ward Police to verify and collect information to clarify the matter.
At the scene, authorities determined that part of the victim's finger had been severed from his hand, and next to it was a backpack containing many firecrackers.
According to information from the Orthopedic Trauma Hospital, patient NAK was admitted to the hospital on the afternoon of December 27 with injuries to both hands. The right hand was crushed and had many foreign objects, requiring amputation; the left hand had 3 injured fingers that were bandaged and stitched. Patient K. stated that the injury was caused by playing with exploding firecrackers.
Dozens of students had to go to the emergency room after inhaling gas from exploding balloons.
After buying 11 explosive balloons (also known as stinky balloons) and bringing them into class, students used their hands to inflate the balloons to play with, causing them to explode. The incident caused 21 students to be taken to the emergency room.
