At the reception, Deputy Minister of Health Le Duc Luan highly appreciated the effective, substantive and close cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Health and the Asian Development Bank over the past years.
Programs and projects funded by the Asian Development Bank have provided practical support to the health sector, especially in three key areas: Strengthening the infrastructure system in disadvantaged areas through the infrastructure and equipment investment program for commune health stations; improving epidemic prevention capacity through the Greater Mekong Subregion Health Security Project and developing health human resources through the Health Human Resources Development Project Phase 2.

On behalf of the delegation, Ms. Karin Schelzig, Director of the Southeast Asia Human Resources and Social Development Department, thanked Deputy Minister of Health Le Duc Luan for taking the time to receive the delegation and expressed her joy at the achievements in coordination work in the health sector.
The head of the Asian Development Bank delegation also proposed a number of issues to discuss with representatives of the Ministry of Health, including: The program "Investment in developing the grassroots health network in difficult areas" has achieved results with 166 newly built health stations and 211 repaired stations, with the desire to promote the progress of the Project implementation in the coming time;

Sharing at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Health Le Duc Luan said that the 2026-2030 period will be the period when the Vietnamese health sector will focus on implementing strategic breakthroughs according to Resolution 72-NQ/TW dated September 9, 2025 of the Politburo on a number of breakthrough solutions, strengthening the protection, care and improvement of people's health" and the National Target Program of the health sector, period 2026-2030 with many key contents.
Deputy Minister Le Duc Luan expressed his hope that the Asian Development Bank would continue to be a strategic partner in areas such as: Investing in upgrading the grassroots health system; strengthening disease prevention capacity; monitoring and responding to epidemics; Supporting the training of high-quality health human resources; digital transformation of health; Supporting health administrative reform and payment models.

The Ministry of Health is ready to discuss with the Asian Development Bank on designing programs to promote reform of Vietnam's health system in the coming period, while creating favorable conditions and closely coordinating with the Asian Development Bank in the preparation and implementation of projects in the spirit of transparency, responsibility, compliance with international regulations in ODA capital management, contributing to improving the quality of Vietnam's health system, improving people's health and contributing to sustainable development.
