Deputy Minister Ngo Le Van welcomed the Secretary General and expressed his pleasure at the positive results of the working trip, especially the Secretary General's working session with Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh on November 18.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that Vietnam always attaches importance to and appreciates the role of the PCA in supporting the peaceful resolution of international disputes.
The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the PCA's cooperation proposal at a time when Vietnam is urgently preparing to establish an arbitration center under the International Financial Center and is in great need of international professional support and experience.
The meeting with Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh (November 18) is an important step forward, showing that the Vietnamese Government highly values the prestige and experience of the PCA.
On this occasion, the Deputy Minister proposed that the PCA coordinate the implementation of cooperation activities within the framework of multilateral legal mechanisms such as the 6th Committee of the United Nations General Assembly and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRA).

Secretary-General Martin Czepelak thanked Vietnam for its warm welcome and appreciated the role of Vietnam in the field of international law. He expressed his wish to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, especially in the context of Vietnam building an international arbitration center under the International Finance Center.
The Secretary General pledged that PCA will continue to closely coordinate with Vietnamese authorities to seek appropriate and effective forms of cooperation, contributing to supporting the process of formation, operation and improving the quality of activities of the Center in the coming time.
On the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the establishment of the PCA Office in Hanoi , the two sides agreed, through the PCA Office in Hanoi, to strengthen cooperation in training and improving the legal capacity of Vietnamese officials; at the same time, continue to promote the role, aiming to make Vietnam a location chosen by parties to resolve regional and international disputes.
At the end of the meeting, Deputy Minister Ngo Le Van expressed his belief that the cooperation between Vietnam and PCA will continue to develop strongly, making practical contributions to the process of building and operating the International Financial Center in Vietnam in the coming time.
The Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) is an international intergovernmental organization with 126 member countries, whose function is to facilitate the settlement of international disputes between countries or between countries and foreign legal entities in the economic and investment fields. PCA has assisted in resolving many international disputes in areas such as borders, territories, maritime delimitation, and economic and investment issues. PCA is currently headquartered at the Peace Palace, The Hague (Netherlands) and has 5 offices in Mauritius, Buenos Aires (Argentina), Singapore, Vienna (Austria) and Hanoi. Since becoming a member of the PCA in 2012, the relationship between Vietnam and the PCA has developed significantly, with the most notable milestone being the opening of a representative office in Hanoi by the PCA on November 24, 2022. |
