Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong visits Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted

Quoc Hoc Hue High School, now Quoc Hoc - Hue High School for the Gifted, was established according to the decree of the patriotic king Thanh Thai signed on October 23, 1896, and is one of the earliest high schools in Vietnam. The school is recognized as a special national cultural relic .

After 127 years of construction and development, the school has a long history of revolutionary tradition, tradition of good teaching and good learning. President Ho Chi Minh and many outstanding leaders of the Party and State, many famous scientists, cultural figures, many professors, doctors, engineers, doctors, military men, good managers, successful businessmen... have studied and grown up from this school.

Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Phu Tho , Principal of Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted - Hue, said that this school year, the school has 42 specialized classes with 1,255 students. The school's annual rate of excellent students ranges from 85% to 91%; each year, the school achieves 60 to 70 national excellent student awards.

The school's students have won 24 international and Asia Pacific awards, including 4 Gold medals, 9 Silver medals , 6 Bronze medals and 5 Certificates of Merit. The school has international medals in all 5 subjects held in the competition: Mathematics , Physics , Chemistry , Biology and Information Technology .

Mr. Nguyen Phu Tho, Principal of Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted - Hue reported on the school's activities.

With the aim of educating the young generation to develop comprehensively, in recent years, besides teaching and learning, Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted - Hue has always maintained regular cultural, artistic and sports activities for students in many different forms.

There are 6 students in the final round of the “Road to Olympia” program, the most recent year was year 23 in October 2023 with 2 students winning the championship. Currently, the school has 23 clubs and teams actively creating a useful playground and training skills for students.

“ We are proud that Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted - Hue is one of the cradles of training and nurturing aspirations for the young generation,” Principal Nguyen Phu Tho shared .

The school hopes that the Ministry of Education and Training will have a policy on scholarships to study at universities in the country and abroad for students selected for regional and international Olympic teams; and pay more attention to investing in order to improve the efficiency of laboratories at specialized high schools.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong emphasized that Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted - Hue is the only high school recognized as a special national monument, with generations of teachers and students with extremely famous names. This is the cradle of the spirit of studiousness, contributing human resources to build the country. The historical tradition of the school is a great resource for all generations of teachers and students to nurture their aspirations .

The Deputy Minister congratulated the school on its very positive results, affirming the right training direction, comprehensive education of Morality - Intelligence - Physicality - Aesthetics for students. The school's students not only study well in specialized subjects, develop their capacity and creative thinking, but are also nurtured in spirit, develop physically, worthy of the cultural values of the school.

Recalling Albert Einstein's saying "Don't try to be a successful person , try to be a useful person", the Deputy Minister said that there needs to be pressure to strive, pressure creates motivation, but not too heavy. The Deputy Minister hopes that the school will continue to implement the project approved by the Provincial People's Committee and develop orientation, building the school into a bright spot with its own mark.

The Deputy Minister said that the Ministry of Education and Training is continuing to conduct research and propose investment policies for the specialized school system . At the same time, it is also conducting research to direct domestic higher education institutions to have incentive mechanisms for scholarships for students who win national and international awards to motivate them to strive to study and attract talent.

At Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted - Hue , Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong visited the classrooms of students studying under the 2018 General Education Program ; visited the school's traditional room . The Deputy Minister shared his impressions with the project " Educational tourism at Quoc Hoc schools" that is being oriented by the locality to be implemented at the school.

Congratulating the school's efforts, the Deputy Minister hopes that the teachers will continue to promote good achievements to achieve better results in the future, building Quoc Hoc - Hue High School for the Gifted to become a high-quality educational institution among the leading schools of general education in Vietnam.
