At the reception of the support fund presented by the Ethnic Committee representing the sponsoring units, on the side of Tuyen Quang province, there were: Mr. Nguyen Hung Vuong - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee - Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Mr. Nguyen The Giang - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches.
Speaking at the support handover ceremony for Tuyen Quang province, Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Y Vinh Tor sent his condolences and sympathies for the damage caused by storms and floods in the past few days in the province. Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman Y Vinh Tor hoped that Tuyen Quang province would continue to implement measures to support ethnic people to overcome the consequences of storms and floods and soon stabilize their lives.
Linh Phu is a particularly disadvantaged commune in Chiem Hoa district. The commune has a population of more than 2,600, of which more than 780 are Mong people. The damage caused by floods after storm No. 3 will make it difficult for the commune to achieve its goal of raising the average income per capita to over 39 million VND/person/year by the end of 2024.
On behalf of the leaders of the Ethnic Committee and sponsors, Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman Y Vinh Tor presented 1 billion VND in support to help Tuyen Quang province overcome the consequences of the flood.
After handing over the support money to the province, Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman Y Vinh Tor and the working delegation went to Linh Phu commune of Chiem Hoa district. This is a remote commune, isolated for many days, with many ethnic minority households having their houses collapsed due to floods.
Also attending were Mr. Nguyen The Giang - Vice Chairman of Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Ma Quang Hieu - Head of Tuyen Quang Provincial Ethnic Minorities Committee and leaders of Chiem Hoa district.
The road to Linh Phu commune was only opened late yesterday afternoon (September 12). However, by noon on September 13, the road to Linh Phu was still very difficult to travel.
Especially the section across Lung Nhieu spillway (Lung Nhieu village), the water is still deep. To ensure the safety of the people and the relief teams, Linh Phu commune has assigned youth union members to stand as "living markers" along the length of the spillway.
In Linh Phu commune, Deputy Minister, Vice Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Y Vinh Tor and the working delegation visited Kho Ngoai village (khe), Pac Hop hamlet. Kho Ngoai has 12 households, 100% of whom are Mong ethnic people.
The landslide on September 8 completely destroyed many houses of the local people. The road leading to the village was eroded, with some sections broken about 5m. To get to Kho Ngoai, the working group was given a “buffer” by motorbike.
Directly arriving at the scene, Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman Y Vinh Tor assessed that the natural disaster had caused great damage to the people. On behalf of the leaders of the Ethnic Committee, Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman Y Vinh Tor sent his condolences to the households affected by floods in Linh Phu commune in particular and Tuyen Quang province in general.
Deputy Minister and Deputy Head of the Department Y Vinh Tor also expressed his emotion at the proactiveness of the people in responding to the floods. Despite the severe natural disaster, people still managed to save their lives and no one was injured.
"I hope that people living in areas with high risks of natural disasters will develop their experience in responding to natural disasters, promote the spirit of solidarity and mutual love to stabilize their lives," Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman Y Vinh Tor suggested.
On the side of the local Party Committee and government, Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman Y Vinh Tor requested that the district and commune pay attention to support and arrange, absolutely not let households have no place to live, lack food, lack essential necessities; rearrange and relocate residents, move households living in dangerous areas to safe places.
At the same time, Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman Y Vinh Tor requested that the agencies doing ethnic work at all levels of Tuyen Quang province coordinate with relevant agencies, departments and branches to advise on continuing to better implement ethnic work and ethnic policies in the coming time.
Sharing the difficulties with the people, the Ethnic Committee and the Ethnic and Development Newspaper supported 50 households whose houses were damaged (each household received 1 million VND) and 50 gifts. Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman Y Vinh Tor hopes that with the encouragement and attention of all levels, organizations and local authorities, the people will overcome the difficulties and soon stabilize their lives after the natural disaster.
Also on this occasion, through the Ethnic Minorities Committee of Tuyen Quang province, benefactors in Ho Chi Minh City also sent money and gifts to households affected by floods, contributing to easing their difficulties.
