(MPI) - On March 8, 2024, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Duy Dong had a working session with Mr. Des Teso, Director of Corporate, External and Legal Affairs for ASEAN region of Microsoft Corporation to exchange information on the Group's orientation and plans in Vietnam.

In 1996, Microsoft opened a representative office in Vietnam. In 2006, Microsoft Vietnam Co., Ltd. was officially established. Up to now, the Group's outstanding cooperation and support activities in Vietnam include: cooperation, capacity building, technology transfer; accompanying Vietnamese organizations and enterprises in digital transformation strategies, promoting the digital economy ; supporting Vietnamese technology partners and start-ups to reach out to the world; supporting the education and health sectors; security and safety, preventing risks in cyberspace; training, improving digital skills and knowledge for young workers.
After hearing updates on Microsoft's operations and development strategy, Deputy Minister Tran Duy Dong highly appreciated the Group's commitments and expansion plans in the Vietnamese market as well as many cooperation programs with ministries, branches, and community support in recent times.
Vietnam always wants to promote science , technology and innovation activities, considering this a top national policy, playing a strategic breakthrough role in the new period; being the main driving force to promote growth, creating breakthroughs in productivity, quality and efficiency.
The Deputy Minister suggested that Microsoft coordinate with the National Innovation Center (NIC) and the Ministry of Planning and Investment to promote practical investment activities, including promoting the development of information technology, artificial intelligence, etc. in line with the focus areas of NIC. The Ministry of Planning and Investment will coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to provide guidance on regulations and institutions suitable for the Group's projects in the coming time.
For his part, Mr. Des Teso thanked the Government agencies for always working closely with Microsoft Corporation to facilitate investment and business activities in Vietnam; emphasizing that Vietnam is always a new and potential market in the region. At the same time, he said that the Corporation will explore opportunities and promote cooperation with NIC to find fields that are in line with the orientations of both sides./.
