Also attending were Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son; Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son; Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat; Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Hong.
Reporting to the Prime Minister at the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to Romania Do Duc Thanh said that the Vietnamese community residing in Romania is not large, only about 600 people, but has promoted the tradition of solidarity, "mutual love", helping each other to stabilize their lives and always looking back to their roots and homeland with the spirit of "remembering the source of water when drinking".
The Embassy and the community always pay attention to the education of the young generation, making efforts to maintain the teaching and learning of Vietnamese to preserve and develop the Vietnamese language. Many Vietnamese students in Romania are excellent students, some of whom have won national and international awards in natural sciences.
According to Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Romania Pham Duy Hung, the Association has promoted its leading role in connecting the community, coordinating with the Embassy to organize many activities towards the homeland and country; supporting and helping people overcome difficulties to stabilize their lives and integrate into the host society.
The Business Association, Youth Association, Student Association, Women's Club and a collective of nearly 3,000 Vietnamese workers have had many exciting activities, thereby expanding solidarity and enriching the cultural and spiritual life of the Vietnamese community here.
In particular, the Embassy, the Vietnamese Association and the Vietnamese community in Romania joined hands to help Vietnamese people in Ukraine when the conflict broke out, helping thousands of people return home safely.
At the meeting, people expressed their joy, confidence and pride in the remarkable development, increasingly bright future and increasingly enhanced position and role of the country in the international arena, as well as the constantly fostered relationship between Vietnam and Romania.
The people expressed their emotion at the attention and care of the Party and State for the overseas Vietnamese community, including the Vietnamese community in Romania; and believed that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit would be a great success.
Also at the meeting, leaders of ministries and branches participating in the delegation responded to the people's proposals. Accordingly, recently the Party, the State, ministries and branches have had many solutions to remove obstacles, responding to the people's recommendations on policies related to identity cards, visas, housing, etc.
Mr. Nguyen Van Toi, Chairman of the Vietnam Business Association, said that Romania's labor demand is very large, this is an opportunity for Vietnam's labor export activities, and at the same time suggested that agencies need to better manage the activities of Vietnamese workers.
Responding to this content, Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Le Van Thanh said that there are currently about 700,000 Vietnamese workers working abroad. Romania is a very potential market, able to receive workers at many different levels, with a fairly good income compared to the general level.
Recently, relevant agencies have taken many measures to review and rectify, and it is expected that during the Prime Minister's visit, the two sides will sign a cooperation document on labor cooperation; thereby creating conditions to send more and more Vietnamese workers to Romania, both to better ensure the legitimate and legal rights and interests, and to raise awareness of law enforcement, discipline, and industrial style of Vietnamese workers.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully conveyed the warm greetings, warm regards and best wishes of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the Vietnamese community in Romania in particular and in Europe in general.
The Prime Minister said that Romania was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1950. The Romanian people had special affection for President Ho Chi Minh during his visit to Romania in 1957.
The traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Romania over the past nearly 75 years has been continuously cared for, nurtured and actively developed in many fields by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.
Romania has given valuable affection and support to Vietnam in the past struggle for independence and national unification and in the present-day construction and protection of the country. Most recently, Romania was the first EU member country to make a noble gesture of supporting 300,000 doses of vaccines and medical equipment to prevent and fight Covid-19 for Vietnam at a time when access to vaccines was very difficult, contributing to helping Vietnam overcome the pandemic and open up, recover and develop the economy.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the Party and State always pay attention to the Vietnamese community abroad. Resolution 36 of the Politburo affirmed that Vietnamese people abroad are an inseparable part of the Vietnamese national community.
The Party and State always strive to care for the Vietnamese community abroad, support them to have a solid legal status, stabilize their lives, and integrate into the host society; firmly consolidate the great national unity bloc; encourage and create conditions for them to actively contribute to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
In 2023 and early 2024, a number of policies for overseas Vietnamese will continue to be specified in laws, including the Law on Identity Cards and the Law on Housing (amended). In particular, the Law on Land (amended) recently passed by the National Assembly has breakthrough regulations on land and housing for overseas Vietnamese.

The Party and State also pay great attention to creating conditions for overseas Vietnamese to preserve and promote their cultural identity and teach and learn Vietnamese. Other recommendations from overseas Vietnamese continue to be actively studied by the authorities, with solutions proposed.
Announcing the main features of the country's socio-economic situation, foreign affairs and integration, the Prime Minister affirmed and thanked the important and positive contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community to the country's overall achievements, with remittances in 2023 alone reaching about 14 billion USD.
The Prime Minister asked the Vietnamese Embassy in Romania to continue to pay attention and do better in the work of overseas Vietnamese in the spirit of "treating the work of compatriots as one's own work, considering compatriots as one's own relatives".
Recalling some of the deep memories of his previous time studying and working in Romania, the Prime Minister asked the Vietnamese people to continue to preserve and promote the good image of the country and people of Vietnam in Romania, as well as the traditional and good friendship between the two countries and peoples.
The Prime Minister hopes that people will continue to join hands and unite to build a united, developed and strong community; uphold national pride, strive to improve, actively integrate, comply with the law and contribute to local development; continue to be an increasingly solid bridge in the Vietnam-Romania friendship; preserve and promote the national cultural identity and Vietnamese language; at the same time, have more practical activities towards the roots, contributing to the cause of national construction and development.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and relevant agencies to continue supporting and facilitating Vietnamese people to work and settle in Romania; to review and manage labor export companies more closely and to further improve the quality of training for Vietnamese workers going abroad to work in terms of foreign languages, qualifications, skills, legal knowledge, awareness, working style, etc.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to listen to and resolve overseas Vietnamese's proposals and recommendations, and report to competent authorities on issues beyond its authority.
