According to a VNA reporter in Thailand, with the desire to connect businesses to promote bilateral trade relations between Vietnam and Thailand, on March 30, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen organized a seminar to promote investment, trade and tourism between Vietnam and Northeast Thailand.
The workshop was attended by representatives of the Friendship Associations of the two countries, the Association of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Abroad,
Thai-Vietnamese Business Association; representatives of leaders of Khon Kaen and Nong Khai provinces, along with about 160 businessmen representing overseas Vietnamese businesses and businesses from many provinces and cities of Vietnam.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Dinh Hoang Linh, Consul General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen, said that the Northeast region of Thailand is a large area with a geostrategic location in the East-West economic corridor, connecting with the central provinces of Vietnam.
Based on geographical proximity, cultural and historical similarities and ties, the Consul General believes that the economic-trade-investment cooperation between Vietnam and the Northeastern provinces of Thailand still has much potential for development, especially in the fields of infrastructure and logistics, agricultural production and food processing, renewable energy, creative-innovative technology and tourism, and expressed his belief that the workshop will contribute a small part to concretizing Vietnam's development goals in the new era.
Mr. Siriwat Pinijipanich, Deputy Governor of Khon Kaen province, expressed his honor to attend the event, affirming that the Thailand-Vietnam relationship is very special and is strengthened from the government level to the localities.
As a locality with a sister city relationship with Da Nang city, Khon Kaen provincial leaders believe that the workshop will open new connection channels between businesses, not only between the two sister localities but also between the Northeast region of Thailand and localities in Vietnam.
Sharing these comments, President of the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association and President of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC) Sanan Angubolkul said that the workshop is of great significance, demonstrating the support of functional agencies to support businesses in learning about the potential, strengths and cooperation opportunities in the Northeast region of Thailand, thereby helping the business community to set out more effective business directions.

Sharing with VNA reporters in Thailand, Mr. Steve Bui, Chairman of Delta E&C Group said: “We visited Khon Kaen University this morning and we realized that there are many opportunities that we have never thought of before for investment cooperation between the two sides, especially in the issue of student exchange, establishing AI technology labs and digital transformation so that students from both countries can share information, and jointly conduct topics on AI science and technology as well as on medicine.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Huynh Vinh Huy, Chairman of the Phu Yen Province Young Entrepreneurs Association, said that Phu Yen is the largest producer of lobsters and tuna in Vietnam. Therefore, he considered this an opportunity to learn about tariff policies to officially export these products to Thailand.
According to Mr. Nguyen The Tan, Director of Tam Lan Tea Company from Tay Ninh, his company participated in the workshop to learn about high-tech agriculture in Thailand, and at the same time wanted to promote cooperation in exporting Tam Lan tea products to the Thai market.
Mr. Nguyen The Tan said he had visited and highly appreciated the high-tech clean vegetable growing model in Udon Thani province, expressing his hope to deploy this model in Vietnam.
Within the framework of the workshop, the Vietnamese business delegation - including many organizations and businesses in education, food production, green and clean agricultural products, and seafood - signed a number of memorandums of understanding on cooperation with Thai businesses.
In addition, the delegation also had working sessions with Vietnamese associations, business connection activities, product display, visits and surveys of some production facilities of enterprises in the Northeast region of Thailand./.
