Promoting the "silver economy" and promoting the contributions of the elderly in the new era

On November 7, in Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly held a press conference to provide information about the scientific conference with the theme "Silver economy in Vietnam in the new era".

The workshop was jointly organized by the Central Policy and Strategy Committee; Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics ; Communist Magazine and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly on November 15, at the International Conference Center.

Speaking at the press conference, Permanent Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly Truong Xuan Cu said that the workshop was organized to provide scientific and practical arguments for the development of the "silver economy ", meeting the needs, promoting the potential and contributions of the elderly, creating an important driving force to contribute to the development of the country's economy in the context of rapid population aging; initially creating a change in awareness among Party committees, authorities, business communities and society about the necessity of building and developing the "Silver Economy in Vietnam in the new era".

The workshop will provide scientific arguments to help domestic authorities consult, proactively advise on policies, and creatively apply them to the development of Party documents, State policies and laws related to the elderly, promote comprehensive resources from the State, society, and international organizations for the development of the "silver economy"; especially building a policy orientation framework, contributing to national policy planning for the 2025-2035 period, with a vision to 2045.

This is also the first step in the formation of the annual "Silver Economy" Forum, connecting domestic and international forces, promoting the development of products and services for the elderly and with the participation of the elderly, contributing to the country's sustainable economic growth goals.

According to Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly Truong Xuan Cu, the workshop will send a message about Vietnam's proactiveness and creativity in responding to population aging; promoting the role of the elderly in socio-economic development, contributing to improving happiness, ensuring social security and promoting progress and social justice.

The organizing committee said that so far, it has received more than 80 presentations, focusing on three main groups of issues: Discussing and systematizing theoretical issues, guidelines, policies and laws related to the development of the "silver economy" in Vietnam; Assessing the current situation of the "silver economy", the role of the elderly in socio-economic development over 40 years of renovation; Sharing experiences from developed countries; at the same time pointing out gaps and policy barriers that need to be overcome, identifying opportunities and challenges, and orienting the development of the "silver economy" in the period 2025-2035, with a vision to 2045...
