Promoting tourism development between Hai Phong city and Nanning city (China)

(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of August 15, in Hai Phong city, Hai Phong Department of Tourism coordinated with the Department of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism of Nanning city (China) to organize the program to introduce and promote the tourism culture "Old friend Nanning" in 2024.

Vietnam and China are two neighboring countries with "mountains connected to mountains, rivers connected to rivers", with similar cultures, similar ideals, and a long-standing friendly and cooperative relationship. For many years, China has always been one of Vietnam's leading tourist markets. In the first 6 months of 2024, Chinese tourists to Vietnam reached 1.8 million. For Hai Phong's tourism industry, Chinese tourists account for about 20% of the market share of international tourists to the city.

On the other hand, the number of Vietnamese tourists in general and Hai Phong in particular traveling to China is also very large. Along with the advantages of road traffic and direct flights connecting Vietnam - China, it opens up the potential for tourism cooperation between the two sides.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Vu Huy Thuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism, introduced some tourism potentials and advantages of Hai Phong city. The Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism said that for many years, Hai Phong city has always been an active member in the Cooperation "Two corridors, one economic belt Vietnam - China", especially in the field of tourism. Hai Phong travel businesses are currently exploiting tours connecting Hai Phong - Nanning by road through Huu Nghi border gate and Mong Cai border gate. Hai Phong always identifies China as the leading key international tourist market.

Through the Program, the Hai Phong Department of Tourism proposes that tourism management agencies of the two localities increase coordination and support in promoting the image and common destinations of the two localities at tourism events organized or participated by both sides; coordinate in welcoming tour groups and press to survey products and promote tourism. At the same time, it proposes that the Tourism Association, airlines and tourism businesses study and cooperate in building attractive and convenient tourism product packages based on the potential and common strengths of Nanning and Hai Phong. Increase the exchange of visitors between the two cities so that Nanning is not only a unique destination but also a familiar Chinese tourist destination for Hai Phong tourists and Hai Phong will also become a familiar destination for the people of Nanning, China.
