On the morning of May 25, an anonymous user posted a photo on social media, allegedly taken at the office of TCL (China) in Ho Chi Minh City, showing a map of Vietnam without the two archipelagos of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa, which belong to Vietnam. The map only has an S-shaped geographical area and is divided into three regions: North, Central, and South, along with TCL's target market in each region.
According to the person who shared the map, who claimed to be an employee of TCL Vietnam Company, the map originally had full details of the islands, but the Chinese leader forced it to be removed. "If you look closely at the picture, you will see traces of glue of these two islands after removal," the post emphasized.
The photo was taken at the office of electronics company TCL Vietnam located in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City.
The above information quickly spread across various groups and forums, making many people angry, even though the original post was removed.
On the same morning, a representative of TCL Vietnam spoke up about the incident and said that this was "a misunderstanding".
"Currently, there are many images with false information about the map being spread on social networks with an offensive nature. TCL's official information is posted only on the TCL Electronics (Vietnam) Fanpage and website tcl.com . TCL Electronics Vietnam is very sorry for the misunderstanding that affects the reputation and trust of customers for our brand," TCL affirmed in an official announcement on the company's fanpage.
The photo shared by Fanpage TCL Electronics (Vietnam) is a photo of a wall with the full appearance of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.
Attached to the corrected post is a photo of a wall with a map of the three regions as above, with the full appearance of the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.
