Polish Senate supports ratification of EVIPA agreement with Vietnam

President of the Polish Senate Malgorzata Kidawa-Blonska affirmed that this legislative body supports the ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), contributing to facilitating economic cooperation between the two countries.

On January 17, continuing activities within the framework of his official visit to Poland , Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had meetings with leaders of the Polish Senate and House of Representatives.

According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the meeting, President of the Polish Senate Malgorzata Kidawa-Blonska affirmed that Vietnam is always Poland's priority partner in the region. The Senate supports the Polish Government in developing relations with Vietnam to a new height.

Agreeing with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's proposal, the President of the Polish Senate affirmed that the Senate supports the ratification of EVIPA , contributing to facilitating economic cooperation between the two countries.

Believing that the relationship between the two countries still has much potential and room for development, the two sides agreed to increase delegation exchanges at all levels to enhance political trust and promote cooperation in the fields of education, health, culture, tourism, labor, etc.

Discussing regional and international issues of mutual concern, the two sides affirmed to continue close coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam supports Poland's participation in the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC).

Meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, President of the Polish House of Representatives Szymon Holownia highly appreciated the positive and substantive developments in bilateral relations. He stressed that Poland wishes to strengthen relations with Vietnam at the highest possible level, especially in the context of unpredictable developments in the world, which pose many challenges to countries.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the Polish Parliament for establishing the Poland-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Association with the participation of many parliamentarians, demonstrating the Polish people's affection for Vietnam.

The head of the Vietnamese Government asked the Polish House of Representatives to support and jointly promote the early elevation of bilateral relations to a strategic level.

Emphasizing the importance of EVIPA to economic cooperation between the two countries, the Prime Minister asked the Polish House of Representatives to soon ratify EVIPA and Poland, as President of the Council of the European Union (EU), to support the European Commission (EC) to soon remove the IUU yellow card for Vietnamese seafood exports.

He also asked the Polish Parliament to support the two countries in strengthening cooperation in digital economy, green economy, and circular economy.

Speaker of the Polish House of Representatives Szymon Holownia highly appreciated the Vietnamese community in Poland, a community with high prestige, diligence, and hard work, making important contributions to Poland and being a bridge connecting the two peoples.

In response, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked and hoped that the Polish House of Representatives would support the early consideration of the community as an ethnic minority in Poland.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister conveyed the invitation to visit Vietnam from National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Speaker of the House of Representatives Szymon Holownia. He thanked and happily accepted the invitation.

The largest group of Vietnamese parliamentarians in the Polish Parliament

Also on January 17, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received the Poland-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group. At the meeting, representatives of the parliamentarians said that the friendship parliamentarians group has the largest number in the National Assembly and has representatives of all political parties in Poland. Despite the diversity, the parliamentarians' perceptions of Vietnam are not different. Agreeing with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's proposals, the parliamentarians affirmed that they will promote the early ratification of EVIPA, as well as support the EC to soon remove the IUU yellow card and support the recognition of the Vietnamese community in Poland as a Polish ethnic minority.
