Mr. Ta Huu Hung - Director of Ban Ve Hydropower Plant said that as of noon on July 24, the water flow into the reservoir was about 2,000 m³/s - down more than 50% compared to the level of over 4,000 m³/s on July 23.

In response to this development, the plant has reduced the discharge flow from over 4,000 m³/s to about 2,000 m³/s - corresponding to the amount of water flowing into the lake. Currently, the water level in the lake is at an elevation of 199.96m.

Mr. Hung said that the operation is carried out in accordance with the inter-reservoir operation process. There is currently no rain in the basin, the entire system is under control. It is expected that if the water flow to the reservoir continues to decrease in the coming days, the plant will continue to adjust the discharge level accordingly. Tomorrow, July 25, the plant will continue to discharge floodwater.

Ban Ve Hydropower Plant continues to closely monitor weather and hydrological conditions for appropriate operations, ensuring dual goals: project safety and people's safety.

Previously, at 9:00 p.m. on July 22, Ban Ve Hydropower Plant recorded a peak water flow into the lake of nearly 9,543 m³/s - approximately the flood safety test threshold of 10,500 m³/s, equivalent to an extreme flood frequency of 0.02%. Faced with high water pressure from upstream, the plant released water to reduce pressure on the dam, while contributing to flood reduction in the downstream area.

It is known that Ban Ve Hydropower Plant is the largest hydropower project in Nghe An province and the North Central region, with a designed capacity of 320 MW. The plant's reservoir has a basin area of over 8,700 km², spanning many highland communes such as Luong Minh, Huu Khuong, and Nhon Mai. In addition to power generation, the project also plays an important role in flood regulation, water supply for daily life and production, control of saltwater intrusion, and ensuring water security for the downstream of the Ca River./.
