On the afternoon of May 14, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the number of candidates registering for the 10th grade public school entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year. If comparing this figure with the 10th grade enrollment target previously announced by the department, Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School, District 1 has the highest competition rate in this year's 10th grade enrollment season.
Next are Nguyen Huu Huan High School, Thu Duc City; Vinh Loc High School, Binh Tan District; Pham Van Sang High School, Hoc Mon District.
The competition rate for admission to 109 public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City in the 10th grade admission season for the 2025-2026 school year is specifically as follows:
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, based on the data of candidates taking the 10th grade entrance exam of each high school, parents and students will consider and, if necessary, change their 10th grade admission wishes.
Time to change wishes is from now until 5:00 p.m. on May 19, 2025. Each candidate is allowed to register 3 wishes for regular grade 10, 2 wishes for specialized grade 10, 3 wishes for integrated grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year.
The wishes are arranged in order of priority from top to bottom. Candidates who are admitted to a wish must study that wish and cannot change the order or content.
More than 6,000 students will fail public grade 10
According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, this year the whole city has only 76,435/total of 88,210 9th grade students registered to take the 10th grade entrance exam. Of these, 5,550 candidates applied for specialized 10th grade, 1,169 candidates applied for integrated 10th grade.
Meanwhile, public high schools will enroll 70,070 students in grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year. Thus, only more than 6,000 students will fail the exam this year - much less than in previous years when nearly 20,000 students failed the exam.
