On May 14, at a regular press conference organized by the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Do Tuong Hiep, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Education and Training, provided more information about many 12th grade students "voluntarily" asking to leave school at Cao Ba Quat High School.
According to Mr. Hiep, the process of handling student absences and retaining results at school is not in accordance with the General School Charter and current regulations.
Specifically, Circular No. 32/2020/TT-BGDDT dated September 15, 2020 of the Ministry of Education and Training on promulgating the Charter of junior high schools, high schools and multi-level general schools does not have regulations on reserving students' learning results.
Circular No. 22/2021/TT-BGDDT dated July 20, 2021 of the Ministry of Education and Training regulating the assessment of junior high school and high school students also does not have regulations on reserving results.

Thus, the homeroom teacher's advice to students to write an application to reserve their study results, leading to them writing an application to reserve their study results and drop out of school, is not in accordance with regulations.
According to Mr. Hiep, at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, Cao Ba Quat High School had 365 students in grade 12. At the time the department's verification team worked (May 10-11), there were 349 grade 12 students registered to take the high school graduation exam; 16 students were absent from school and had their study results reserved.
Of these, 5 students have dropped out of school since the first semester, 4 students have submitted a withdrawal request; 2 students dropped out of school in the second semester, without a request; 5 students have submitted a request to reserve their study results.
Of the 16 students who were absent from school, as of May 14, 3 have returned to school.
Mr. Hiep said that there is no basis to confirm that some shares on social networks expressed doubts about allowing students to "voluntarily" take time off from school and reserve their results "is a school tactic to reduce the high school graduation failure rate in the upcoming exam". However, the Department also continued to clarify this issue.
According to the Deputy Director of the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training, the Department is continuing to verify the contents related to the 12th grade students' absence from school to consolidate the records and properly handle the collective and individual responsibilities involved at Cao Ba Quat High School.
