Craft villages are both places to preserve the cultural and traditional values of the country and create jobs and stable income for workers. In the economic development orientation according to Resolution No. 68 of the Politburo on developing the private economic sector in the coming time, with the available potential, this sector will develop strongly in its own direction, contributing to solving employment, increasing income for rural workers, and actively contributing to local economic development.
The province currently has 29 craft villages and 9 recognized traditional occupations, with nearly 6,500 production and business establishments located in residential areas, most of which are family-sized, creating regular jobs for more than 17,000 workers.
In recent years, in districts such as Binh Xuyen, Vinh Tuong, Yen Lac... there have been a number of industrial clusters planned near craft villages, meeting production requirements as well as solving environmental pollution problems, creating a favorable investment environment.
To adapt to the market mechanism, traditional craft villages in the province have proactively applied and converted data and working processes from manual to digital and automated in production and business activities; promoted digital transformation to expand the consumer market such as using social networks, building websites, participating in e-commerce trading floors...
Many craft villages in the province have actively invested, applied scientific and technical advances, innovated equipment in production, gradually replaced manual labor, outdated machinery and equipment that cause environmental pollution such as computerized embroidery ceiling systems, automatic industrial sewing systems in the traditional cotton and textile craft village of Gia village, Yen Dong commune (Yen Lac); computerized CNC wood carving machines, CNC fine art carving machines in carpentry villages; stamping machines, punching machines, grinding machines, milling machines, metal cutting machines, self-propelled cranes in the traditional blacksmith craft village of An Nhan commune (Vinh Tuong)...
Also from traditional occupations, many craft villages in the province have developed strongly, becoming villages with many billionaires such as the ornamental plant craft village of Tay Son commune (Lap Thach), Thanh Lang carpentry village (Binh Xuyen), Yen Lac town carpentry village (Yen Lac)...
More happily, many households here have transformed their business models from small-scale to larger-scale enterprises and cooperatives, more systematic and fully legalized. Thereby, not only promoting cultural and historical values but also contributing to the transformation of the agricultural and rural economic structure, reducing the poverty rate, creating jobs, and increasing income for people.
For many years, Lung Ha traditional carpentry village, Yen Phuong commune (Yen Lac) has developed rapidly, bringing stable income to the people. The main products of the village are handicrafts such as tea cabinets, scrolls, horizontal lacquered boards, parallel sentences, worship items, etc. The products are beautiful and eye-catching with sophisticated hand-carved lines, meeting the consumption needs of people in and outside the region, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development.
Preserving and promoting traditional carpentry, the whole commune currently has more than 240 households producing small-scale handicrafts, of which 156 households produce traditional carpentry products, creating regular jobs for more than 400 workers with a stable income of 7-8 million VND/person/month. Thanks to that, the average income per capita in Yen Phuong commune currently reaches more than 75 million VND/person/year; the poverty rate has decreased to 0.3%; the rate of trained workers has reached 86%...
Vice Chairman of Yen Phuong Commune People's Committee Nguyen Van Hoa said: Lung Ha carpentry village has created many unique and sophisticated products in recent years, imbued with national cultural identity, bringing increasingly high economic efficiency, helping to solve employment for many rural workers. To enhance the competitiveness of craft village products, especially in the new development stage, the local government hopes that the application of mechanisms and policies from Resolution No. 68 of the Politburo on private economic development will create an important legal corridor, which is the basis for promoting the potential, strengths and affirming the strong vitality of Lung Ha traditional carpentry village, contributing positively to the local economic growth.
On the basis of applying and promoting the effectiveness of Resolution No. 68 of the Politburo on private economic development, the province continues to direct departments, branches and localities to promote propaganda and widely disseminate the State's policies and guidelines on preserving and developing traditional occupations and craft villages.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment shall coordinate with relevant departments, branches, units and People's Committees of districts and cities to review and deploy the application of advanced science and technology, product introduction technology, online sales; product design, packaging; brand building, geographical indications of origin of goods; support the construction of product trademark protection...
The Department of Finance advises the province to increase the annual budget to perform the State management function on rural industries and craft villages in the province.
The People's Committees of communes, wards and towns shall fully and promptly implement the State's mechanisms and policies related to rural occupations and craft villages; coordinate with all levels and sectors in implementing tasks on developing rural occupations, preserving and developing traditional occupations and craft villages in the locality.
