Hungarian striker unconscious after collision at Euro 2024, captain Szoboszlai in tears

In a set piece in the 68th minute of the match between Hungary and Scotland at Euro 2024, striker Barnabas Varga jumped up to challenge while goalkeeper Angus Gunn rushed out to punch the ball. At high speed, the Scottish goalkeeper's elbow hit the Hungarian player's face very hard.

Barnabas Varga then fell to the ground and lost consciousness, leaving everyone around him in shock. Medical staff quickly entered the field to deal with the situation.

A large sheet was stretched out so that doctors could treat Varga. The image is reminiscent of Christian Eriksen's cardiac arrest at Euro 2020.

Captain Dominik Szoboszlai could not hold back his tears. He and his teammates helped the medical team put Varga on a stretcher to be taken to the emergency room. The spectators in the stands clapped their hands to encourage the players and prayed for the number 19 striker.
