Destroyed nearly 40,000 products with violating origin and counterfeit trademarks

DNO - More than 40,000 products of unknown origin and counterfeit trademarks with a total value of more than 1 billion VND were destroyed by Da Nang city authorities on December 14.

All infringing goods were destroyed by the authorities.

Accordingly, the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee 389 of Da Nang city met and established a Council to destroy infringing goods discovered and handled by member forces in 2023, and a few remaining in 2022.

The number of goods destroyed this time is up to 40,000 products, including 25,500 products of clothing, shoes, handbags... of unknown origin, not ensuring safety for use and counterfeit goods of famous brands discovered and handled by the City Market Management Force in 2022 and 2023 and nearly 14,000 packages of smuggled cigarettes discovered and handled by the City Market Management Force, Police and Border Guard in 2022-2023.

It is known that the total value of destroyed goods is more than 1 billion VND.

The destruction council said that the method of destroying all of the above goods is to grind, crush, destroy their original shape, and burn them at the waste treatment plant of An Sinh Construction and Trading Company Limited (Phu Hai village, Dai Hiep commune, Dai Loc district, Quang Nam province).

The entire process of destroying goods ensures technical environmental requirements, with close supervision by representatives of the Destruction Council and coordinating functional forces.

The Da Nang Market Management Department assessed that in the last months of the year, especially near the Lunar New Year 2024, the situation of smuggling, trading of counterfeit goods, and goods of unknown origin is at risk of increasing. The Market Management force will continue to coordinate with functional forces, focusing on promoting the implementation of professional measures, promptly detecting, preventing and strictly handling violations in the coming time.

Nearly 14,000 packs of smuggled cigarettes were discovered and handled by the City Market Management Force, Police and Border Guard.

All goods sent for destruction must meet environmental technical requirements and be closely monitored by representatives of the Destruction Council and functional forces.

The authorities transported the infringing goods for destruction.
