From famous movies like “The Big Bang Theory”, “Grey's Anatomy” or “Jane the Virgin”, Phan Phuc Thien Phuoc became “viral” (phenomenon) with the video series “English without formula” on Tiktok, helping viewers learn to communicate in English more effectively. The series “English without formula” has been “adapted” into a book published by the Vietnamese Women's Publishing House.

Unlike traditional textbooks, the book “English without formulas – Role-playing without mistakes” takes readers into a role-playing world, where you can learn to speak English by “living” in each specific situation. No more dry theory, no more complicated grammar rules – only lively dialogues, so that readers and learners can naturally say the same thing as native speakers often do.
The book gathers 100 sample sentences from movies, helping learners watch videos and record sentences to practice speaking, thereby increasing reflexes in communication. The sample sentences are both simple and interesting, such as "I didn't mean to bring you down", "Have you ever done that?", "I can't just let you hang up"... helping learners find (again) interest in learning foreign languages naturally.
For example, from the sentence “I'm thinking about staying here”, the author lets learners write and practice saying similar sentences in English such as “I'm thinking about moving out of my parents' apartment”, “He's thinking about buying a boat”...
In addition, the book also includes dialogues for learners to practice and apply in real life, thereby improving their communication skills. Thien Phuoc also includes in the book some international songs by many famous singers such as Taylor Swift or Lana Del Rey that he likes, with his own translations, to help learners relax gently after "getting into character".
“English without formulas – Role-playing without mistakes” helps each person break the psychological barrier of having to be good at grammar and know a lot of complex vocabulary, but in reality, just need to role-play and speak like a native. The “learning fast - remembering long” method is a practical approach for learners to respond naturally, instead of translating each word in their head.
Author Phan Phuc Thien Phuoc is an MC, English teacher and digital content creator. He has translated more than 300 European and American songs into Vietnamese, most of which are songs by Taylor Swift, Adele, Lana Del Rey, Katy Perry... on social media platforms.
He owns a Facebook channel with over 161,000 followers and a Tiktok channel with over 46,800 followers. Since 2020, he has tried to turn everything he knows about English and European and American music into a series of interesting videos. Thanks to the reception of a large audience, the videos began to "go viral" on Tiktok...
