Ministry of Health guides people to ensure safety when attending the parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Southern Liberation Day

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), a grand parade will be held on a large scale, gathering a large number of armed forces and people to participate. To ensure safety, order and help people have a good experience in this important event, the Organizing Committee recommends that people follow some of the following instructions.

The safety of every citizen is the top priority of the Organizing Committee.

Before arriving at the parade area, people should choose polite, neat clothes, suitable for the weather and circumstances. Sports shoes or sandals with a back strap are the best choice, making it easy to move and avoiding slipping; high heels or slippers should not be worn to avoid collisions or jostling.

You should prepare enough drinking water, some snacks or milk to ensure your health while waiting and watching the event. At the same time, you should bring necessary items to protect against the sun or rain such as a small umbrella, raincoat, wide-brimmed hat, but you should prioritize lightweight, easy-to-fold items.

In particular, people with underlying medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease or poor health should consider carefully before participating in crowded events to avoid unnecessary risks.

During the event, people are advised to maintain order, not to jostle, push or engage in excessive behavior such as shouting or arguing. The spirit of solidarity, civility and mutual respect will contribute to creating a solemn and safe ceremony.

In case of an emergency, people should not panic, run away or believe in unverified information. Please calmly listen to the announcements from the Organizing Committee and follow the instructions of the authorities.

Look for the nearest exits and leave the danger area quickly but orderly, following the flow of traffic, not trying to push against the flow to avoid collision. Staying calm and cooperating with security forces at this time is extremely important to ensure the safety of yourself and the surrounding community.

In the unfortunate event of being caught up in a dense crowd, people should keep their hands in front of their chest to protect their chest and lungs, helping to avoid the risk of suffocation. Move with the flow of people using short, steady steps, and absolutely do not stop in the middle of the stream.

If you fall, quickly use your hands to protect your head, bend over to cover your vital organs and wait for the opportunity to stand up when there is space. The most important thing is to stay calm and avoid panic, because calmness is the key to safely overcoming dangerous situations.

The safety of each citizen is the top priority of the Organizing Committee. Therefore, if you feel that the surrounding situation is not safe or you are not healthy enough, you should proactively leave crowded areas in an orderly and safe manner.

Let us together build a solemn and civilized festival atmosphere, and spread the spirit of solidarity and patriotism on this important occasion of the nation. Wishing you all safe and healthy events and memorable experiences on the historic holiday of April 30.

Ho Chi Minh City strengthens medical force, ready to serve April 30th celebration

In the context that Ho Chi Minh City is rushing to complete all preparations for the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the city's health sector has synchronously deployed many solutions, increased forces and means to ensure the best service for the activities taking place on this important occasion.

According to information from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health on April 28, the city has mobilized all medical resources, including 20 two-wheeled ambulances, 64 ambulances from the emergency network outside the hospital, and 146 first aid points managed by the Red Cross. All are on standby, ready to quickly handle emergency situations in the community.

Not only mobilizing local forces, the city's health sector also closely coordinated with the health forces of the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security to ensure health care for leaders, delegations, forces participating in parades, marches, tourists and people attending events. In parallel, a foreign emergency plan was developed and activated to promptly respond to any possible situations.

The city's 115 Emergency Center coordinated with the Military Medical Department, the Health Department and hospitals under ministries and branches to organize and assign emergency forces in three layers: on-site (audience area), buffer zone and backup route. In particular, emergency routes have been designed to suit the actual traffic infrastructure, ensuring that patients are brought to the nearest medical facility quickly and safely.

In addition to emergency care, the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control has implemented synchronous measures to prevent and control the epidemic during the series of commemorative activities.

The Health Sector coordinates with the Department of Food Safety to strictly inspect hygiene and food safety conditions at hotels, accommodation establishments, restaurants, conference and festival venues, and at the same time promote propaganda to raise public awareness of personal hygiene and prevention of infectious diseases in the community.

At the parade and march locations, hospitals and medical facilities in the area have arranged medical forces according to the assignment diagram, fully supplemented with medicines, medical equipment, and personnel ready to receive and treat patients. At the same time, foreign emergency teams have been reinforced in terms of human resources to be able to respond quickly when required.

Although the rehearsal of the anniversary program went smoothly, the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health still issued important recommendations to protect the health of people when participating in the official ceremony.

People should get enough rest, wear appropriate clothing, use sunscreen, bring drinking water and personal medication, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.

In addition, it is necessary to pay attention to choosing safe foods and limit the consumption of foods of unknown origin sold on the sidewalk. In case of feeling sick, people should immediately notify the authorities and absolutely stay calm, follow the instructions to receive timely support.

With careful preparation from the health sector and a high sense of responsibility, Ho Chi Minh City is ready to ensure comprehensive health care, contributing to the overall success of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

Nearly 82,000 suspected measles cases, Ministry of Health requests to accelerate 3rd vaccination campaign

According to a report from the Ministry of Health, last week, the country recorded 3,942 suspected cases of measles, down 4.3% compared to the previous week. Since the beginning of 2025, there have been 81,691 suspected cases of measles recorded in 63 provinces and cities across the country. Although the number of cases this week has decreased by 30% compared to the peak of the epidemic, the Ministry of Health believes that the situation still has many potential risks when the epidemic has not been completely controlled.

Measles outbreaks tend to increase after Tet (week 9 of 2025), level off in week 14, and begin to decrease from weeks 15 to 17. Most of the provinces with increased cases are concentrated in the Northern region, while the remaining regions have stabilized or the increase is not obvious.

One notable point is the change in the age of the disease: The group of children from 1 to 10 years old, which usually accounts for a high proportion, has decreased slightly, while the number of cases in the group over 10 years old has shown signs of increasing. This is believed to be related to the fact that a part of the population has not been fully vaccinated or has an unknown vaccination history.

To date, 54/54 provinces and cities have completed vaccination for 777,451 out of a total of 806,267 subjects eligible for vaccination, reaching a rate of 96.4%. Of these, 52 localities achieved a vaccination rate of over 95%, while the remaining 2 localities achieved from 90% to below 95%. These are the results of the first and second vaccination campaigns this year.

To continue responding to the epidemic, on April 21, 2025, the Ministry of Health issued Decision No. 1340/QD-BYT on the plan to implement the third measles vaccination campaign.

According to the plan, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology has allocated 451,700 doses of the first batch of vaccine to regional Institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology and Pasteur Institutes for distribution to provinces and cities.

Currently, localities are urgently developing plans to implement the campaign according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health, and at the same time directing medical facilities to strengthen examination, treatment, patient classification, infection control and full reporting of cases.

Although the high vaccination rate has contributed to slowing the spread of the disease, the Ministry of Health is still concerned about the fear of vaccination among some people, as well as the shortage of medical staff at the grassroots level, factors that could hinder the vaccination progress.

To overcome this situation, the Ministry has sent a document requesting localities to step up communication, coordinate with the grassroots press and radio system to update the epidemic situation and promote the benefits of vaccination.

According to the directive, the third measles vaccination campaign must complete the first injection before April 30, 2025 and the second injection before May 15, 2025.

The subjects of vaccination are children from 6 months to under 9 months old in high-risk areas and epidemic areas but have not been vaccinated in previous campaigns; children from 11 to 15 years old in high-risk communes and wards, who have not been vaccinated or have not received enough doses of measles-containing vaccine, and have unknown vaccination or disease history.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), measles vaccine is safe and effective even in children under 9 months of age in the context of an epidemic. WHO also recommends giving an additional dose of measles vaccine to children aged 6 to under 9 months in high-risk areas, followed by 2 doses according to the Expanded Program on Immunization schedule.

In fact, the majority of recent cases are unvaccinated or under-vaccinated. This is a reminder of the importance of vaccination in protecting the community, especially during the transitional season – when disease outbreaks are likely.

The Ministry of Health calls on parents and people to proactively vaccinate their children fully and on schedule to join hands in repelling measles and protecting the health of themselves and the community.
